Is it really lunacy? Look at how China got to the point of restricting the birth of baby girls and famine in Africa has been a "norm" for some time now.
Let's look at both of those claims. Why did China restrict the birth of baby girls? Was it because there are too many mouths to feed? Or, was it because China wanted worker bees? China has vast areas that are devoted to agriculture. Imagine what the output could be if they adopted the modern farming methods we have here in the US! Is famine in Africa caused by too many mouths to feed? Or, is it the result of corrupt regimes soaking up the US foreign aid and IMF and World Bank loans before the money can be put to productive use for the people?

If you think that Congress is serious about dealing with climate change, have a look at the proposed bill. 648 pages! I can foresee the day when this bill is hustled onto the floor for a vote, with very few in Congress actually having read the bill, but pushed to vote on it because "we have to do something now!" When Democrats want something bad, they hustle it onto the floor and force a vote before anyone has time to read the bill. Remember all the fallout after the "Porkulus Bill" was passed? No one actually read the whole thing! This climate bill will follow the same pattern.

We have have had plenty of time to experience climate change and the effects of our lifestyles (ie: smog, asthma, mutated frogs). The stimulus had to be pushed through....remember banks failing, high unemployment, tent cities, foreclosures...etc, all at the same time?

the earth is a big friggin' rock that has been around for billions of years. there ain't squat man can do to break it. You're wrong. We have already "broken" much of it. i know you generally avoid my questions because they tend to make you look foolish but i'm dying to have you explain how we have " broken" the earth.

We have have had plenty of time to experience climate change and the effects of our lifestyles (ie: smog, asthma, mutated frogs). Once again Mink demonstrates how thoroughly out of touch she is, and how deeply she has drunk of the Kool Aid. The air in California is exponentially cleaner than it was as little as 20 years ago. Please read here and here for additional background and opinion on just how clean California's air really is, and how the state has caused immeasurable damage on soil and water quality with their ham fisted regulatory approaches. Please go read a newspaper and tell us all what is different now from what you describe since the stimulus passed? Banks are still failing, and many who received federal funds against their will are trying desperately to give the money back before they fall prey to the bureaucrats. Unemployment has risen since the Swindle-us passed, tent cities are still springing up and foreclosures are continuing on. In fact, a number of credible analysts are saying we've only seen the first wave of foreclosures with the worst yet to come. You, and many other leftists, continue to argue every matter as a political one, with political solutions. In that you couldn't be more wrong. As to Al Gore's testimony before Congress the other day... I had to laugh my ass off when he spouted off that the cap and trade fiasco he is supporting (which will make him unbelievably wealthy, by the way) was the most important legislation before Congress since the Civil Rights legislation of the middle 1960's. Which his father, Senator Albert Gore, Sr., voted against..........
