I have made no comments on that article, but I will if you like. I say that we here on this forum should do something for this young lad. I have a neighbor I went to high school with, a year or so younger then me, who did something similar. I wish there were more we could do for them.

There Auta be a Law: Any child born in the OOH. S. A. shall be the same Nationality as the Mother.
And, there should be vehicle inspections at all crossings into the , oooh. S. A. No Illegals. Planes too. They don't have anything we need. Besides, I'm tired of their crummy grapes. Lets get back to Import taxes. Haw that should get a rise out of the "Pubby Pahty".
And while we are at it, Paraquat all Pot plants. Ever wonder why Pot Heads, etc. never seem to go away? Hypothetical Case: Police Arrest Pot supplier with a ton of Pot. Supplier offers a million dollars to let him go. Would you?

Speaking as someone who was offered a bribe or two back in the day, no I wouldn't. I may not have always been paid a lot, but I was paid enough to be honest.
And if someone offered me a million bucks to let them go, I'd say you better keep it because you are going to need some money to get your balls out of your throat when I get done kicking you. Maybe I'd be lucky and that someone would be you.
Why are you even posting? You never make sense.

capttankona, thank you for your kindness, but after reading even more posts I've come to the conclusion that some people aren't worth the time.
As far as helping the young man the article posted information where one can contribute to a fund for him. So sad that a young life is forever changed, if not destroyed. It sounds like the mother did everything she could to support the family and work hard to become a citizen legally. How unfortunate that she didn't have health insurance, I wonder what the heck happened to the dad?
I knew a young man in school that was CRAZY and crashed his motorcycle into a tree and is paralyzed as a result. Some young people just seem to think they are invincible.
I know when I was young I did some pretty stupid things. In hindsight it makes me shudder and I am glad to still be here and in one piece.

This is a very nice gesture of goodwill. Kudos to his friend and the people of Healdsburg for fund-raising.
Thanks for posting the article and heads up saunterelle! Those who wish to help can donate and enjoy a nice week night out.

Poor kid. Nice to see that people can drop pompous judgment to help another in need. I am so sick of the garbage spewed like that on the PD forum. So many of those people are IDIOTS, and I wonder how they would feel if the shoe was on the other foot (hoof).

Yep, this is the way it is supposed to work here, community coming together to help out.
Maybe some of the upper-upper class progressives in the area can kick in some meaningful cash. Kind of back their call for socialized medicine with some real action.

Though I know it is not perfect, I sent this letter to Tiger Woods, via his website.
Dear Tiger,
First, let me say that I really like that name. When I was growing up, and still to this day, I have a cousin named Duane who we have always called Tiger. So, your name and career bring back many great memories for me, as most of my family played golf in my youth. I can recall many great days with my father at the local course, enjoying the sun and weather of Northern California.
Unfortunately, I am not writing you to discuss golf, though I would certainly love to tell you some of the stories of our days on the course as kids. I am writing to you about someone else I have never met, who, like you made, the choice of golf as a career. His name is Honza Ripa, a great name for someone who plays your sport. However, his days of playing ended tragically at the age of 18, just a few days after graduating from Healdsburg High School in Northern California. He suffered an accident while swimming in the Russian River, fracturing two vertebrae in his neck, permanently ending his chances of playing competitive golf. He was a top student in his High School and their number one golfer.
Now, I am not writing you this to have you send money, or autographed pictures or anything like that. To someone whose life is golf, I am sure you understand what I am going to ask you and why. You are by far the best-known golfer of modern times, with a name as recognizable as Arnold Palmer or Jack Nicklaus, who were the heroes of my golfing days. What could go further to lift the spirits of this young man then a visit from the greatest golfer in America today? I know you are busy, but if you could find it in your heart to reach out to this young man, who I have never met, then I feel it would go a long way to his recovery. As a concerned parent, it is all that I would ask of you. I hope that you will give it some serious consideration, for his injury is indeed a loss for golfers of the future, but that does not mean his future is bleak.
Thank you very much for taking the time to read this sir. I wish you the best in your future and hope you continue to play and enjoy one of the greatest games ever invented.
My best to you and your family.
Sincerely,
|

capttankona, good for you to take the time to try and makes another's day a little brighter and I hope Tiger will take the time to do something for Honza. I don't usually get too involved in these things, but years ago I did send a handful of e-mails to good ole Oprah regarding the plight of Carmina Salcido and how she should do a show about her (didn't get a response). My heart goes out to this young woman and I hope nothing but the best for her. In case someone in the forum doesn't remember the story: www.sonomanews.com/articles/2009/04/14/news/doc49e3e476915dc479657731.txtI do try to help the community in small ways and I think if everyone contributed even just one small token of care/visiting seniors without family, or contributing to those that need food, clothes, toys, whatever might be helpful to those in need this world would be a much better place. My parents go out in the snow every winter and do the pick ups for Toys for Tots, and work the distribution center to dole out toys. My mother who has ALWAYS been a skeptic of those in need has finally come to terms with reality that some people really do need help and not because they are lazy, users, losers etc. She has been touched emotionally by several parents who come in shame to pick up the toys for their children and are always profoundly grateful. Yes, she sees the scammers, but for the most part the people that come are truly in need.
