Law enforcement in Rohnert Park has long been a disgrace... and an extremely overpaid one at that.
Here's my solution and the city could save ass loads of money....
a) dismiss all the cops down to the minimum number needed to cover the basic car plan, which is four beats plus a supervisor.
b) hire three clerical positions, which are paid at about 1/5th what the officers get.
c) assign those clerical employees to process concealed carry permits for those city residents not prohibited from owning a firearm that desire to have a permit.
Give it a bit of press out to the perpetratin' crowd that anyone in RP might just be packing heat and the crime problem that city government, and it's thuggish union cronies, are using to scare us all into voting to screw ourselves ... will never materialize.

So, on top of a Casino posibly coming in and bringing in more crime, RP may lose up to 17 officers due to budget cuts. let's try it this way: So, on top of a Casino possibly coming in and providing good paying jobs and tax revenue which would allow RP to keep 17 officers and perhaps hire more... i won't argue with you that RPPD is less than impressive and i do like TBD's idea. get the word out that RP citizens are armed and won't take any crap. it also doesn't help that RP is spending more money on worthless projects like whatever the hell that is going on in front of the library and PD station. i see a bunch of marble blocks (pretty expensive looking stuff) being used out there today. is this really necessary?

Government, like empires, always seeks to build palaces and monuments to itself. The scale just gets bigger as the government gets bigger.
