Hell, he was just taking lessons in the Slick Willy School of Governerorship. At least he didn't use his official limo to take him to cheap motels and have his guards outside the door. Or keep her quite by arranging a late night car ride like one senior Senator from MA.

See my post under "US Politics." There's more going on here than meets the casual eye.

Apparently he found himself a piece of ass that was worth risking....
1) His marriage, 2) His family, 3) His office, 4) His personal and professional future.
I've been around quite a while now and I've yet to find any twist in the hay to be worth all of that. However I would fall back on the words of the late Vince Lombardi when he was repeatedly fining Paul "Golden Boy" Hornung for violating curfew in training camp....

Apparently South American women are "something special" for men in power. Former Governor Elliot Spitzer's hooker was a Brazilian.
Go figure.

Timing in politics is everything. For instance if Governor Sanford had made his announcement on Thursday, instead of Wednesday, it might have gone something like this.......
No one would have ever known or cared what he did.
And yes... I am feeling exceptionally cynical tonight. Why do you ask?

First of all, maybe his marriage is over to begin with and they stayed married out of convenience. Secondly, why does the mistress have to be a hot POA? Maybe she fulfills him emotionally as well as...
I would say I am surprised at the stereotypes, but nah!

Maybe it was and maybe they did. And if she fulfills him emotionally, then that's cool for him.
The fact remains, however, that he strayed... as far as I am concerned, that's wrong. I made a promise to be faithful in front of God and witnesses, and by gadfrey I intend to stick to it. About the only thing in my life that I have taken even close to that seriously was the oath I swore to uphold and defend the constitution of the United States and the State of California... and I took that one pretty seriously too.
Nowhere, on my review did I mention the notion about a "hot POA". My thrust in mentioning the Vince Lombardi story had nothing to do with his concubine's level of hotness. It's merely an allegory that if a man is going to screw up that bad, what he screws it up for had better be worth it in whatever measure a cogent analysis chooses to take.
Having said that, I've had the considerable good fortune to have worked closely over the past many years with a number of women who hailed from across South America. Some hot, some not... but that's kind of beside the point. What I have found, with each and every one, is that they have a very different energy than many of the American women I have had the pleasure of knowing in my life. Very different and very intriguing.
Take that for what it's worth.

TBD, I didn't say you were the one that made the comments about hotness etc. Read the other comments...
I know MANY married people that live in loveless marriages and stay in them for many different reasons. As I've matured I can see why people stray and sometimes the other partner would rather they did. When I was young the thought of someone cheating was unfathomable to me, now I sort of see how it can happen to a marriage that is dead for both people. I am not saying that's what people SHOULD do, but I can understand it. I am too boringly moral myself to cheat no matter the reason, and I am the same way as you if one makes a commitment to another then it should be honored.
