they say this kind of stuff happens in 3's. McMahon, Fawcett, Jackson.
i also didn't care much for MJ in the last 2 decades but agree that his early work and in the 80's was remarkable. it's so sad that he had devolved into the introverted strange man that he was. it's also sad to look back at his younger photos and realize what showbiz can do to a life.
rest easy, michael.

Everyone seems to forget that the first to go was Quai Chang Caine, or David Carridine. So we got it in fours this time. Only a couple weeks apart, with two in one day and three in two days.

WOW! Unbelievable day. I just ran into a couple of neighbors and we were chit chatting about the famous people dying, and then they asked if I knew that one of our old neighbors (he moved away) had passed, he was only 40!
I am going to bury my head under my pillow.
I grew up with Jackson's music, and in his prime he was truly amazing. What a sad ending to what could've been a fabulous life.

Michael is the 5th in about 2 weeks. David Carridine (sp?), Bob Bogle, Ed McMahon, Farrah, and Michael.

Not to downplay the other recent losses we have just had the last two weeks, none are as well known world wide as Michael is or was. I am very happy to see the recognition he is receiving on the networks, non-stop since his death today until this hour and most likely through the rest of the evening. I even came home and started off with "Thriller" and and on , and on, and on until I ended with "Got to Be there"......... and danced in between.

Yes, let's all celebrate the life of a pederast, apparently utterly dependent on narcotics who spent his life imprisoned in a perpetual childhood, without benefit of formal education, no discernable social skills and whose "people" built a massive cult of personality around him that played on all those problems begat by his abusive, star struck parents. Oh but yeah, he could sing and dance. That apparently makes it all okay. Michael Jackson's life is an American tragedy. It is both a symptom and a cause of the decadence that our modern society is succumbing to. At least that's the way I feel about it. For another perspective, there is Jonah Goldberg at The Corner.

I liked his music, but I was not one of the adoring masses. There was only one star I ever wanted to meet, Henry Winkler. I was a big fan of the Fonz back in the day. But, I grew up.
