Thanks Mink. I know Davis wasn't the best governor ever, but I'll bet a lot of voters are now regretting the decision to recall him.

ah, no easier job than a monday-morning quarterback or an armchair general.
let me borrow some words from the left.....
"arnold is trying to fix the mess created by davis and the liberal legislature in the previous 5 years."
if davis were still governor my vehicle tax would be tripled instead of doubled (no, i'm not happy about that either) and our state taxes would be through the roof.
good riddance to a bum of a governor. now if we could only do the same to our bum legislature we might be better off.

TNG, do you have a supporting link to your claims?
The bottom line here is Arnold didn't fix anything. I didn't vote for him, but in his second term, I actually rooted for him to succeed.

we'll be saying the same thing about obama in a few more years.
a link to what? the fact that one of the big reasons davis got the boot was because he proposed tripling the vehicle registration fees? that's common knowledge.

Yes, a link to support your claim above. If it is common knowledge, there should be a link supporting it. * note: Good for you for rooting for President Obama, you won't be sorry

In response to Mink's attempt at misdirection... here is a link. The reference to the tripling only applying to vehicles in excess of $20K value was to then Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante's promise as the lone Democrat in the recall. VLF did in fact triple in October of 2003, and Arnold rescinded that increase among his first initial acts after being sworn in. What is interesting is something that else that is in the article.... Those huge deficits are bigger than what has been proposed now under Arnold, or over the past couple of years. And that was in a robust economy with revenue running at or above projections, rather than under them as it is now. Gray Davis trying to get all revisionist on his disasterous administration is just par for the course... that much more asshattery from a failed politician. He ought to just shut the hell up and dodder back off to where ever it is that he has been these past six years.

A very good article. To bad Davis takes it more seriously then you do. I supported his decision to issue warrants before, as I do this time. Unfortunately for you, you are still stuck in the old political mode. It is our state legislature that is broken, not the office of the governor. And the difference also is that Davis was working with a majority, Arnold is not.

Yes, a link to support your claim above. If it is common knowledge, there should be a link supporting it. * note: Good for you for rooting for President Obama, you won't be sorry Here it is. Here is an actual story. I did the work for you "Gray Davis Triple Car Tax" were my search parameters. Here is a more recent story. I did the work again. This is the third link. I am working for you still. From the fourth link. Are you getting the point yet? And the fifth link from the search. And the last one I am going to provide you with. Make sure to read all of each of them. Guess what, you will find the documentation you require in very link. But, isn't that just like a socialist? To benefit solely from the work of others! Edited to add: Now use this knowledge to realize just how we actually got to where we are in this state. We need to vote everyone of them out, period. Arnold will term out this term, we should not waste money on attempting to remove him. We need to focus on the real problems, the State Legislature. One day, you may understand this.

Capttankona, who are you kidding?? You aren't doing my work!! Just like Big Dog, both of you found supporting links for the TNG, who made the claim.
I see TNG was correct, however, does it change anything here?
Maybe we should have gone for the triple tax, so we could have paid the deficit. Now, we are in worse shape!

It changes nothing.... you are still wrong. Tripling VLF at that time might have netted a billion or two in revenue, but the state still had a $38 billion total deficit and $8 billion of that was a hard "we got no money to pay for that, let's borrow from ourselves" kind of deficit. The smoke and mirrors kind.
Your efforts to try twisting and turning yourself into thinking you are right only serve to make you look all the more ill informed and unwise of the realities of both the history and the current situation.
Here endeth the lesson.
