To all my friends here, and even if we go at it hammer and tongs, I see all of you as friends. Have a joyous, Glorious, adn safe indepnedence day.
Even with our problems, and we do have a lot, this Republic is the best nation that has existed. The personal freedoms, the freedom of expression, of movement, and of worship is unequalled.
John Adams wrote to his dear wife, Abigail: “I believe that it will be celebrated by succeeding generations as the great anniversary festival… it ought to be celebrated by pomp and parade, with shows, games, sports, guns, bells, bonfires and illuminations from one end of this continent to the other…”
So, to those who decry these things, saying that we are forgetting the True Meaning – A fig upon you! Ditto to those who wish to take our guns, fireworks (illuminations), and bonfires.
Joe
Justice Robert H. Jackson – It is not the function of the government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error.

Celebrate your independence, it was hard fought. Remember why they died, the right to make your own choices in life, to choose your friends, who you will do business with and if you want a service or not. Don't forget the excessive taxation that they died to end. They shed blood to protect us from a monarchy, not set one up under a President who thinks he knows what is best for everyone. They also warned us of a thousand King Georges who would take your wealth for their own desires. Fight against it, the Tea Parties are out again, find one if you can. Speak to your friends, read Liberty and Tyranny, insist on a Constitutional Government or nothing. PROTECT THE RIGHTS THEY DIED FOR.
Happy Independence Day America, may you endure, rights intact, for another 200 years.

E-mail from our President: This weekend, our family will join millions of others in celebrating America. We will enjoy the glow of fireworks, the taste of barbeque, and the company of good friends. As we all celebrate this weekend, let's also remember the remarkable story that led to this day. Two hundred and thirty-three years ago, our nation was born when a courageous group of patriots pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor to the proposition that all of us were created equal. Our country began as a unique experiment in liberty -- a bold, evolving quest to achieve a more perfect union. And in every generation, another courageous group of patriots has taken us one step closer to fully realizing the dream our founders enshrined on that great day. Today, all Americans have a hard-fought birthright to a freedom which enables each of us, no matter our views or background, to help set our nation's course. America's greatness has always depended on her citizens embracing that freedom -- and fulfilling the duty that comes with it. As free people, we must each take the challenges and opportunities that face this nation as our own. As long as some Americans still must struggle, none of us can be fully content. And as America comes ever closer to achieving the perfect Union our founders dreamed, that triumph -- that pride -- belongs to all of us. So today is a day to reflect on our independence, and the sacrifice of our troops standing in harm's way to preserve and protect it. It is a day to celebrate all that America is. And today is a time to aspire toward all we can still become. With very best wishes, President Barack Obama July 4th, 2009 P.S. -- Our nation's birthday is also an ideal time to consider serving in your local community. You can find many great ideas for service opportunities near you at www.serve.gov.

Thanks for ruining my independence day with the hypocrisy of BO. Never have I read a more disingenuous letter. I DO NOT SERVE A GOVERNMENT, IT SERVES ME.

He is suggesting that you to help out in your local community. You serve for the betterment of your nation, not for your government.

He is suggesting that you to help out in your local community. You serve for the betterment of your nation, not for your government. And what the hell has the left been other than a boat anchor holding us back for the last 8 years? Sitting on its collecivist ASS and whineing. Then, the day before the former junior senators coronation, they all get togther and do a pitance of the work needed, then sit back an pat themselves on the back again and say waht a GREAT thing they have done. Got a big news flash for you, ella. That is what true conservatives (Jeffersonian Liberals) have been saying and doing for ove 200 years. It is the collectivist thugs like the former junior senator from IL, Nancy, Babs, DiFi, Lynn, Jesse, Al who, along with FDR, Wilson, Lincoln, Johnson, who work against our Constitution.
