obama is so full of sh*t. how can you possibly vote for a guy who will look you in the eye and lie like this:



the pentagon did NOT forbid him from visting landstuhl regional medical center to visit wounded troops. they specified that he couldn't have his campaign entourage with their cameras there. obama chose not to visit because IMHO he doesn't feel at ease with the troops. you may have seen a few nice photos and video clips of him shooting hoops in iraq but did you see throngs of soldiers gathered around him trying to shake his hand? no, only a few and they didn't look too thrilled. there is a reason why people like obama, hillary, john kerry, etc. don't visit the war zone: they are not well received! when the obama team learned that the powers at LRMC weren't going to allow him to get photos and footage to create campaign ads they decided to skip it. he could have visited with the troops if he really wanted. this sooooooo pisses me off!

another thing, he says that his trip hasn't changed his mind on his policies. he even says that according to ground commanders he is reassured that his 16 month pullout policy is the right thing. really? which commanders are saying that? name some names here. this is political pandering to the anti-war nuts and nothing more. we will NOT be out of iraq in 16 months. if he is elected he will come up with some bullsh*t to talk his way out of that too. the guy cannot admit he is wrong, ever. he has seen now first hand what a great success the surge has been and still he won't admit that it was a good idea.

I find it incredible how this young man, who has only been in the Senate for 3 years, and has spent 2 of those years campaigning for president, is seen as having any credibility at all in international and national security issues. It used to be that a freshman Senator was relegated to the back bench for at least the first term, so that (s)he could learn the rules of the Senate.

This only reinforces my belief that Obama was picked by the Democrat machine because he is very charismatic, and because he will be easily controlled from the other end of Pennsylvania Ave should he be elected.

and don't forget............because he is a minority. dems are using that to their advantage. you cannot look me in the eye and say that they would have picked him if he were white and his name was william smith.

his trip to the mideast and europe was for one purpose.....photo ops. his speech in berlin gathered thousands of "adoring" worshipers. no one will tell you that much of the crowd was drawn to 2 of europe's prominent rock bands before the speech. doh! nothing like drawing an audience of drunken concert-goers and making it look as though they were there to see you, right? whatever works, i guess. the same thing happened in portland. i wonder who will open for him in denver?

TNG, I think you are off target in your critisism of Obama. He did not skip out on visiting Landsthul simply because he would not be well received by the troops. As it is clearly pointed out, cameras are not allowed so we would never see that anyway. Obama knows that and would not expect to get some camapign footage by visiting the hospital. There is far more to this than that so you need to really listen to this shyster to see what is happening.

It is not the usual campaign trickery. This guy is good. Follow me here: He says: "It was scheduled. We intended to go. We had planned to go, and we got wind that there was some concern that this might be perceived as political because we were using campaign resources."

Okay, first off, he says the same thing 3 times to drill it into the heads of the listeners. Three different ways he says, "We were going to go". Right there - the repeating of the same phrase three different ways - is a clear indicator of deception. Anyone with some training in interviewing and interrogation will see that.

Secondly, he casually tosses in, "...a chance to visit folks at Walter Reed..." as he talks about not wanting to foul thing up with politics. Then the matter of the rules forbidding cameras and campaigning comes up and he says how that part is "easy", how they never planned to have cameras and, "I was in Walter Reed 3 weeks ago and nobody knew about it", and "intention was not to publicize this".

So several more times he mentions how this was not about campaigning, not about politics, and didn't want to "foul things up". Again, saying the same thing different ways is a classic means to get people to believe your lie. They might not believe you the first time, but say it a little differently and you might sway a few more, and on and on....

Also, while not trying to publicize, politicize, and use it as campaigning, he makes sure we know he made that unpublicized visit to Walter Reed.

Then he finishes with, "There was a hint that it might be perceived as a political issue because of some blowback...." But as with how he started, talking about "we got wind..." Now "there was a hint...", "...some blowback...". What was it? From where? Can he explain where that is coming from or are we supposed to just take it as fact? Not me. He wants someone to think that he was just a victim of some outside forces that caused his good intentions to be scrapped.

So in summary TNG, I think the whole point of Obama NOT going to Landstuhl, was simply so he could get some political mileage from his unpublicized trip to Walter Reed, and his intention to do the same at Landstuhl. Because lets face it, had he simply made the unpublicized visit to Landstuhl... And of course to get in the part about how he is good but "they" are out to get him.
