almost daily now i grow more and more convinced that barry obama (aka the new george mcgovern) is going to lose this election by a big, big margin. i also know that when he does lose the response of the left will be things like:
"america just isn't ready for real change." "karl rove and dick cheney sabotaged the election" "there are still too many racists in america to elect a black man"
whenever obama speaks extemporaneously he shows us a little bit more of the real barry. the barry who is largely a babe in the woods. he reminds me of a child sitting behind his father's desk on bring your kid to work day. he continues to show us that he knows not what he speaks of when he says things like inflating your tires can save us from foreing oil dependency.
he is trying to please every facet of the electorate and won't take a real stand on any issue. he refuses to debate mccain; he refuses to allow access to the press; he has little experience in politics or life in general. i don't need to hear the crap about his short stint as a "community organizer," either.
he is riding a wave of hollywood-like popularity, that's all. there is a reason this man is hiding his real identity. the DNC hitched to his wagon almost solely because of his star power and yes, his skin color. sorry that it has to come down to that but the truth hurts.

New Guy, it becomes more clear if you frame it thusly:
Pelosi, Reid and Dean decided to push Obama to the front when they saw the effect he had after his speech at the 2004 Democrat Convention. They see this young man as someone who would be easily controlled from the other end of Pennsylvania Avenue.
Bill and Hillary complained because they felt it was her turn. You saw how the party pushed her out. Those vicious rumors didn't come from the Right, they came from the Left.
Early in Obama's campaign, one of his handlers wrote an op-ed about how race could be used to defeat Obama. Ever since then, any opposition to Obama has been characterized as racist. So, even though he has absolutely no experience, other than community organizer, no one can effectively criticize him without being branded as "racist."
I don't think McCain's victory will be as lopsided as Nixon/McGovern. After all, as weak a candidate as Kerry was, look how well he did. Some people just won't learn.
