Well, on the bright side, it save medical costs and a trial. Of course, now there will be all the charages of RAAACISM that have to be investigated and fought.

true, but still it's sad to realize that UC Bezerkely just lost a potential commencement speaker.

Well the bad guy is now as dead as those he so shamelessly murdered. It's probably just as well for him, from my personal perspective, because his life in custody from the point of his crime forward would have been exeptionally unpleasant. And said unpleasantries might have gotten someone else in trouble which would be unnecessary.
From a purely professional perspective the blanket application of three strikes has quite apparently driven an increase in assaults on LEOs. That is about as undeniable as the nose on anyone's face. Thank you Richard Allen Davis, you worthless piece of crap, for being the spark that set that fire off.
I've seen it in action many times myself. Guys with nothing to lose and everything to gain are more willing to run, resist, duke it out or shoot it out. Statistics and interviews with offenders bear this phenomenon out and are available at a variety of sources.
The only thing, IMO, that has kept LEO injuries and deaths from skyrocketing in conjunction with the increase in assaults is better training and evolution of both the use of force continuum and the tools available to that continuum.
The idea of three strikes laws is sound in principle. People who habitually and persistently display a complete lack of ability to comport themselves with society's laws concerning violent offenses don't really deserve to be allowed to be running around loose in that society. In the case of Mr. Clemmons, once served with notice that he was going to be charged so as to receive life without parole his bail needed to be revoked and he needed to be on remand for trial. Two judges, however, decided that he needed bail in that situation.
Governor Huckabee is going to wind up being the punching bag in this deal, I am afraid. Given Clemmons's age at the time and that his record was not nearly as extensive it likely made sense to reduce his sentence and allow him a chance. Unfortunately no one guesses right 100% of the time.
What is more disconcerting, to me, is how Clemmons was treated through numerous felonies in Washington, up to and including the most recently charged ones that he was awaiting trial for.
There are going to be repurcussions across the criminal justice system that will go far deeper and far wider than the waves of Lovelle Mixon's crimes in Oakland last March will ever go. Given the rising tide of both assaults on LEOs and the ambush killings of same that we are seeing in larger numbers I am exceptionally concerned that the public is going to become very unhappy with the lengths that LEOs will be going to in an effort to ensure their safety. Training and doctrine is going to evolve and I am certain that not everyone is going to like how it goes.

Mrs. Elin Woods I posted the picture just to prove the old axiom: No matter how fine she is, Someone, somewhere, is sick of her s**t!

what i can't understand is why guys with superhot wives feel they need to cheat? is it in their DNA or something? well, at least tiger got a new sponsor out of the whole ordeal: and the woods' have a great new photo for their Christmas card this year: and what man in his right mind wouldn't cheat on this old hag anyway? me thinks tiger let his little head do the thinking instead of his big head.

Elin Woods (nee Nordgren) is the prototypical Swedish bikini model, as can be seen above. She is still smokin' hawt post partum. For those not in the loop she and her twin sister ( ) were nannies to the children of pro golfer Jesper Parnevik, and it was Parnevik who introduced Elin to Tiger. There is, apparently, an iron clad pre-nup which would make Eilin Woods a very, very wealthy woman should the marriage disintegrate so she isn't exactly a "dumb blonde". That Little Tiger has been so controlling of Big Tiger, I would guess, probably has more than a little to do with having been thrust into a vaccuum bottle of hype and relentless practice that molded him into the golfer that he is.... which began at age 2. My guess would be that, off the course, he probably has the emotional maturity of a ten year old. And... to drag the topic back to it's start, the funeral service for the four Lakewood, WA peace officers is scheduled for next Tuesday, and has already outgrown it's venue. The Tacoma Dome, pictured below, is one of the largest wooden structures in the world and can seat up to 23,000. The overflow will view at a satellite location in the Olson Auditorium at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, which seats another 2800. I would wager that there won't be a dry eye in either house.
