The rise in our Hispanic population proves that the changes made to our immigration laws in 1968, that were supposed to improve the balanced, are a complete and utter failure. It was supposed to balance immigration among all ethnicities. But instead it is giving America away to the least educated, instead of improving our nation.

I read today's PD article on the population of Hispanics in Sonoma County, and found it quite laughable.
The article states that their are "104,862 Latinos in the county, up from 80,619 Latinos residents living in the county at the start of the decade"
I feel that the census numbers are greatly under the real numbers of Latinos living here.

Bearing in mind that until the next official census is taken in two years, all of these numbers are little more than a SWAG based on statistical modelling, projections of growth and assumptions that the nose counters had it all dialed in right in 2000.
To be honest I think they may be as much as 10 to 15 percent low.

To be honest I think they may be as much as 10 to 15 percent low. I'd be surprised if it's not 20 to 25 percent low. I know that driving around Windsor on any given day, the sheer number of "Baby Buggy Brigade" members I see rolling their 2-3 very young kids around is only going up. Seems like 1 kid every 9-10 months is the target.

That number does seem low. I really do wish the next President would take a stronger approach to boarder enforcement.

Border enforcement is not the solution. Until we stop the giveaways to them once they are here, they will still try and finds ways to get here. More migrants die as U.S. tightens border security [REYNOSA, Mexico (Reuters) - Tougher security along the U.S.-Mexico border is forcing migrants to take more dangerous, remote routes to cross into the United States and pushing up the number of deaths in the desert.] www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSN1231212420070712

I really do wish the next President would take a stronger approach to boarder enforcement. finally we agree on something. perhaps we can also agree that neither of these candidates will do squat about the border once they are elected. the only way to stop the flood of illegals and drug smugglers across our southern border is authorize private citizens (and there are plenty of us who would volunteer for duty) to man the border. give us the authority to detain and/or shoot on sight and i guarantee the flood would slow to a trickle real fast.

I think stopping the giveaways should be the first action taken.
Our govt. needs to put the pressure on the Mexican govt. too. We need to make them financially responsible for their own people.

Our govt. needs to put the pressure on the Mexican govt. too. We need to make them financially responsible for their own people. Good luck with that. There is nothing in it for the fair skinned elites that run the country (both socially and economically) in taking care of the permanent peasant class. It is far less costly to simply export the peasants so that they are someone else's problem. That our government, going back decades, has thrown the welcome mat out across it's collective backside for the Mexican government and ruling class to dump into is what is the real crime and is what must be ended. The posters above are correct that nothing is going to happen until the mother's milk of government provided goodies dries up at the teat.

Congress is in charge of Naturalization, which of course includes immigration laws. I don't care which person is president, it is wrong to blame them for our immigration mess. The fault is that of congress. Now look at who was in power in 1968. Article. From 2001 through 2006 the Republicans controlled the House, Senate, and Presidency. Are you saying that if the (Republican) President had petitioned the (Republican) House to strengthen our boarders (could even have used the 9/11 "terrorist prevention" excuse) they would have denied him? I think you're fooling yourself.
