In 1968, as Bolverk's post clearly notes, the Democrats were in control of both houses of Congress and the White House. It was at that time that the first in a series of weakenings of our immigration laws was passed. That has nothing to do with Bush or a Republican Congress in the 21st century, no matter how much Saunterelle's baseless bashing wishes it were so.
Bear in mind also that the 1980's vintage amnesty bill was passed out by a Democrat controlled Congress and signed by a Republican president named Reagan... which he later, and candidly, admitted was his single biggest mistake as President.
