Last night, I came home from work to find 2 copies of the new Valley Yellow Pages on my front steps. I called the local office of the VYP and told them that I didn't ask for them, I didn't use them, and, if they were still on my front steps when I get home tonight, they will go straight into the recycle bin. A tremendous waste of resources, right?

At least they were using renewable forest products.
The deliverymen get paid to drop them off. That is where their interest ends.
They make excellent recyclable doorstops.

Here in Windsor, they make it an easy way for vandals to spot abandoned and foreclosed upon houses. I drove by six such houses yesterday..all had the VYP in their drivway.

Mrs. BigDog and I have been looking at a number of properties as potential investments and those darned books on the porch completely give it away that the house is vacant, if it was not otherwise apparent (think bank owned with no signs at the curb). Being the nice, warm hearted guy that I am, every place we visited that had the books on the porch I moved them inside.
