When I was on a bike trail in RP, I saw some graffitti that almost made me fall off my bike. Apparently believeing that plain English is acceptable graffitti, as opposed to the writing that no one can read, someone has sprayed "9-11 Inside Job" at several locations on the pavement.
We talked about this in the old PeeDee forums. Imagine someone so depraved that they could conceive of staging such an act of horror on innocent people, then projecting that same depravity onto the President. This is Bush hatred taken to the extreme. On the other hand, as long as the Rabid Left continues to focus on this and impeachment, it takes them off the table as a serious political voice.
Further along the trail, I came across another piece of graffitti, "No War." For some time as I pedalled along, I thought about that one. Imagine a world where there is no need for war, ever. Now, imagine what might have to happen before that could occur. Short of the Second Coming, I can't envision a world where someone, somewhere, doesn't hate America because of what we have and what we stand for. There will always be someone who wants a piece of us, literally and figuratively.
Peace Through Superior Firepower.

Great weather for a bike ride!
There are conspiracy theories surrounding many significant events throughout our history. The conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11 have gained traction not because they are likely (they are pretty far fetched) but because the Bush Administration is full of corruption, cronyism, and lacks transparency. They outright lied to the American people to take our country to war in Iraq, causing the deaths of thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians. So for many people it is not so far fetched to believe they staged an attack to take away our freedoms and gain power through fear mongering.
As for "no war," I think it specifically addresses the war in Iraq for which it should read "no unjust war." Or, it could simply be a hopeful idealist expressing his or her hope for the future.

Applesauce... the Bush haters and the loons far out on the left were plying their conspiracy theories even before the smoke cleared in the days after 9/11. That had nothing to do with Iraq. As to your complaints about corruption, cronyism and lack of transparency, name me a single Administration since the 1920's that didn't have all of those traits in spades. You act like you are shocked and that political cronyism and the occassional dirty deal were invented by George W. Bush. Wake up, flush out your headgear and smell the coffee. Your opinion, not proven or borne out by verifiable fact. Again... the pointy head conspiracy kooks were at it the day the attacks happened. What is your point here, exactly? A hopeful idealist.... BWAAAAAHAAAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAH!!!! And again, applesauce.

Go back to Lincoln and look at the cronyism there. And the corruption of Grants administration.

My point is that those kooks have garnered a huge following due to mistrust of the Bush Administration.
"As to your complaints about corruption, cronyism and lack of transparency, name me a single Administration since the 1920's that didn't have all of those traits in spades. You act like you are shocked and that political cronyism and the occassional dirty deal were invented by George W. Bush."
You're using the excuse "everybody does it so why are you complaining about Bush." Maybe because it is so much worse in the Bush administration. For example, appointing his incompetent friend Michael Brown the head of FEMA was a HUGE mistake that cost people their lives. Before being appointed by Bush, Brown was the Judges and Stewards Commissioner for the International Arabian Horse Association, (IAHA), from 1989-2001. After numerous lawsuits were filed against the IAHA over disciplinary actions, Brown was forced to resign. Now why would Bush think this guy could be the director of an important organization like FEMA? Another appalling example was Bush trying to appoint Harriet Miers to the supreme court. Most people (even conservatives) thought that President Bush probably nominated Miers for her personal loyalty to him rather than for her qualifications.
Quote: They outright lied to the American people to take our country to war in Iraq, causing the deaths of thousands of American soldiers and Iraqi civilians.
"Your opinion, not proven or borne out by verifiable fact."
It is well understood that Bush misled us to war by all but the most blind Bush defenders (you know, that 28% who still think he's doing a good job). Someone who worked within his own administration (Scott McClellan) even came out and admitted it!

Someone who worked within his own administration (Scott McClellan) even came out and admitted it! Saunterelle, it is quite a leap from "Bush Lied" to "Bush misled us." Methinks that our repeated reminders of the nature of the rhetoric that was common in Washington pre-2001 have finally started to have an effect on you. Have you now admitted that many leading Democrats were calling for the removal of Saddam during the Clinton administration? Bush's sin, if any, was that, post-9/111, he convinced us that the threat from Saddam and his toys was serious enough to do something about, as opposed to the previous administration that was content to engage in sabre-rattling and an occasional cruise missile. "Most blind Bush defenders" - how about "most staunch Bush supporters"? Blindness is in the eye of the beholder. Scott McClellan is on his book tour. And, not doing too well, I understand.
