Jesus loves me, this I know, 'cause the Bible tells me so.

You're right Joe, but we can't keep fooling ourselves with laws that "God sent down from the Heavens." What is wrong with having the same morals because that's what we (man) agree upon? Isn't that the basis of a Democratic society? People are leaving organized religion in droves as science disproves the religious explanations that have survived for centuries. Already, religious arguments such as creationism hold no water because they're simply based on blind faith. The fact that creationism is still taught in some American schools is laughable. funny you should mention this, saunterell. if you look closely, the laws of man pretty much parallel the ten commandments: adultery murder theft bearing false witness (lying) which of these silly "made up" laws do you propose we do away with?

"funny you should mention this, saunterell. if you look closely, the laws of man pretty much parallel the ten commandments:"
Exactly my point. They were written by men in the first place so why don't we just recognize that and be done with all this fairy tale stuff? I'm not proposing we "do away" with any of them, they're great laws to follow. I'm just saying lets not kid ourselves when it comes to their origins.

heckheckle, I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not. It's a perfect comment to illustrate the power of religion in America.

Great thread.
As long as we are ready to deal w/the consequences of our choices, no problem.
And homosexuality cannot be a natural act as defined by Darwinist theory. It does not provide an avenue to pass on the trait to offspring, therefore it is a dead-end.
Immoral? You decide, but natural? Not as measured by a survival-based evolutionary theorem.
As far as believing that there is much more to this world than there appears on the surface, here is what I told an atheist pal of mine.
"If you're right, I'm a fool. If I'm right, you're f*cked!"

i agree. i can't say with 100% certainty that there is a god but i'm hedging my bets. if it turns out that i'm wrong, nothing lost. if it turns out that i'm right in my belief, everything gained!
