Why is it that the Democrats, in the face of crucial issues on national security, world peace, global energy supplies, the strength of our economy....... the list goes on and on, yet the Democrats want to focus on abortion?
In my opinion, Roe v. Wade should be overturned. Not because I want to ban all abortions, but because Roe is a bad example of how to make law. When was that law ever debated in any legislature? Instead of following the usual procedure for passing a law, the one that is laid out in the Constitution, the activists found someone who would file a suit, then bankrolled that suit all the way to the Supreme Court.
The issue should be debated and acted on in 50 state legislatures, not one Supreme Court.
If the Supreme Court took a similar action today regarding guns, the Left would be apoplectic. But, because the issue was abortion, it was OK.
So, stop it with the abortion wedge, and stick to the issues that are important, like when you are going to tell us about that CNG Honda you want so bad.

I find it both odd and comical that you, who support the supposed "Mr. Change" who just selected an Old School Crossing Guard for his VP, would poke at anyone else for being a flipflopper. There's nothing about "change" when it comes to Joe Biden. There is no "change" coming from Obama's camp. The entire DemCon was nothing more than college kids putting together idealistic cliches and tired slogans and calling them "speeches", and attenders cheering wildly over the emptyness. There is no substance in Obamunism whatsoever. Admit it: the man's black. That's his platform. "I'm black so you're a racist if you don't vote for me". That's really all he's got. He's a lousy orator without someone writing a speech for him, and his speech writers suck. He's got no experience whatsoever in leadership, as a freshman Senator. He's a racist - read his books. He's nothing more than an opportunist, and the Democratic Party thinks he's their greatest hope: an oPpOrTuNiSt is their best bet?!? LOL They're banking on Americans being SO STUPID and NAIVE' that we don't notice that Barry is an empty suit. I didn't intend to vote for McCain, as he's a Democrat in Republican clothing, but after seeing him side by side with Obama Bin Laden, McCain is starting to actually look a little presidential. And Obamunism is already dead in the water in America, except for a few who are the most deluded, the most unrealistically idealistic, and those who worship Liberalism over all else. It'll be McCain in November, hands down. Unless Ron Paul starts getting some press, anyway... Leave him alone saunterelle, he's a POW! Just kidding.....I see there are no takers here to defend the "flip-flopper". I wonder what his final decision is??

If you don't know by now, the "change" offered by Obama is a change from Bush's disastrous policies that have drained our surplus and forced us to borrow from China, kept us dependent on oil, and forced health care costs through the roof. Here is a detailed explanation of "change." No empty suit here: Here's that empty suit. What's he saying about "change"?!

Saunterelle sez...
Well, at least I got you off of abortion and on to issues that really matter.
You say that Bush's policies "forced us to borrow from China." I say that our economy is so strong that China has no problem at all investing their surplus dollars here. If, in fact, our economy was as rotten as the Democrats would have us believe, wouldn't China cash out and invest somewhere else?
You say that Bush's policies "kept us dependent on foreign oil." I say that Democrat policies, by restricting domestic production of petroleum, have forced us to be dependent on foreign oil.
You say that Bush's policies have "forced health care costs through the roof." Please provide evidence of which Bush policy has done that.
A vacuous promise of "change" is not a policy.

My point wasn't about the abortion debate, it was questioning the legitimacy of McCain's status as a "straight talking maverick." He compromises his morals and bends to his party just like everyone else.
Why would China want to invest in the US? Simple. We have the most powerful military in the world. If we ever needed to start a conflict with China they would have us by the balls. To put it bluntly, they could cripple our economy. 60 Minutes covered this very real possibility, did you catch it?
Wrong. You're twisting my words and you'll be smited for it. What I said was that Bush "kept us dependent on oil." Bush admits our "addiction to oil" yet he is beholden to the oil companies. He has put nothing toward building an infrastructure for alternative fuel or alternative transportation options. I would like to buy that GNC Honda but the infrastructure isn't in place.
He hasn't even addressed our nation's health care crisis. Why? Because it doesn't affect the rich.
Did you watch the videos in my previous post? There are multiple specific point of change that Biden addresses. McCain on the other hand talks about what is wrong in our country and says changes need to be made but he doesn't say what those changes are. Kind of tough when he voted 95% in lock step with Bush last year.

To put it bluntly, they could cripple our economy. 60 Minutes covered this very real possibility, did you catch it? Oh, yeah, I caught it. China's emergence as a military power, especially a naval power, is a concern in what is becoming a global chess match. Just as we are deterred from attacking China, so also is China deterred from attacking us. What is Obama's policy toward China? Smite away. As I recall from an earlier post, Bush's 2005 energy proposal was for a majority of the tax breaks to go to alternative energy development. Why didn't that happen? You talk about a lack of infrastructure as being the reason you haven't bought the CNG Honda, but you blame Bush for that. Have you looked at the role your party has played in stymieing energy development? Here's an excerpt from the 2008 State of the Union Speech. You're excused if you didn't watch it. You'll note the responsible party here: it's up to Congress to pass the laws, not the President. The President can only propose laws. What happened to this issue in Pelosi's Congress? Could it be that the issue has not been brought up because it has more value as a campaign issue? If Obama is truely concerned about improving health care, why has he not done anything about it during his (short) tenure in the Senate?

Saunterlle says he would love the Honda CNG but the infrastructure isn't there. Yet he also wants us to instantly junk our petrolium economy and switch to technology such as this for which there is no infrastructure.

Who the hell says we needs change anyway?
I'm in no mood to change to a socialist republic.
But The One did change the race of his father on his birth certificate to "African" from "Arab".
Why would he do that?
Change we can believe in?
