Recently I havn't had much chance to get out and do some of the things that I really like, but yeah - learn to enjoy the moment and grab it with both hands. I pretty much have fun at whatever I'm doing. Even if it is something I would rather not be doing, if that makes sense.

Saunterelle, I looked for a port wine this weekend to drink with some chocolate-nut fudge. I was lost and wound up buying a very small bottle of Black Muscat dessert wine. Do you have any suggestions on port?

You will enjoy the black muscat, Mink. I wish more of it was on the market. Look for Dows port.

Thanks subdjoe, I'll look for Dows.
I only had Black Muscat once at an educational fundraiser. I know, it is hard to find and this teeny bottle wasn't cheap-yikes!

What brand did you get? There are two commonly availabe - Elisium and Dan Eden (I think I have those right). It is expensive, but a little goes a long way. Hit the farmers market on Saturday and get a few pieces of Gandolfs Fine Chocolates to go along with it.

It is called Elysium. I haven't opened it up yet. I might wait until my vacation. I have two coming up for the holidays. Thanks for letting me know about the brands.

Elysium is nice. I think you will enjoy it. Drizzle a bit on some good vanilla ice cream.

Joe's got some good suggestions. Graham's Six Grapes Port (best price at Costco) is a good one too.

Thank you saunterelle for another choice of a port wine. I am experimenting. My older sis loves a nice port with a decadent chocolate (she used to buy Peter Rabbit) for dessert so I'm finally taking the plunge What do you think of the Black Muscat? Subdjoe, I'm not much of a vanilla ice cream fan. Any other suggestions?

A touch on fresh fruit - peaches, cherrys, blackberries - all the stuff that is way out of season now. Or drizzle a bit on pound cake or angel food cake.
Or pair it with cheeses. Bounce it off a good blue. Or with a good nutty havarti or gruyere or emmenthaler (sp). Some will say it is anathama to do this, but try it with a well seasoned and grilled steak. The rich sweeness of the wine I think goes well with the chared, salty, fatty meat. Play with it, try it with what you like.
