Because there really is evil in the world. Some people have no empathy for others, some are twisted inside and are not capable of feeling the pain of others. Sure, there is always the "excuses" handed out....daddy beat me, my dog ran away, the drugs did it, my boss hates me, the other kids pick on me....but in the end it boils down to personal responsibility. To truly "understand" or try to explain why a person does such horrible things is not really possible. One would have to "think" like that person and who wants to do that?
Yes, evil exists, and it shows itself in many ways, but usually not in such horrific and visible ways.
We are fortunate that good outweighs evil most of the time.

Such a incredibly sad situation, my heart goes out to all that are left behind. DWD, not sure what you mean by "evil" exactly, for me I think some people are born with a chemically imbalanced brain, they are sick, plain and simple. If you add drugs like meth to the mix serious psychosis and paranoia take over and all logic and reality is gone, sometimes forever. Personally, I believe based on research some people are mentally fractured, or emotionally detached from childhood abuses, some people can withstand it and others cannot, again, plain and simple. Look at the Romanian orphans that were studied because they had considerable detachment disorders from lack of nurturing as infants. Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reactive_attachment_disorder covers many facets of what happens to children that are neglected as one example (of many out there) of what can happen to a person, it's not always some manipulative legal excuse! <just sayin>

When I refer to "evil", I speak of the evil influences from the original "evil one", Satan. He is the opposite of good and is responsible for the hate that fills the earth. Satan was originally a son of God just as so many other angels. But, he desired the worship of humans and sought to turn man away from their Creator. He has worked hard to do that and his influence is manifest in the evil things we see when man commits evil acts upon his fellow man and even the animals.
Yes, drugs contribute to the psychosis that the mentally ill deal with, aggravating the situation. But what is to be said for someone like the man who slaughtered so many last night? He did not know them, yet he killed as many as he could. So far, they do not say whether he was "high" on drugs, or any other substances, but there does not seem to be any indication of a history of hostility. So where did he get his urges to commit such evil?

James Holems had worked at Salt institute in San Diego.
CBS reports that Holmes won an internship in neurobiology at the Salk Institute while still at Westview High School in San Diego, where, according to the Associated Press, he also ran cross country and played soccer.
The university website listed one of his courses as the Biological Basis of Psychiatric and Neurological Disorders. He was listed on the class website as making a presentation in the spring on MicroRNA biomarkers.
Now he was on unemployment and has twenty thousand dollars of bullet proof clothing, three weapons, bought 6,000 rounds of ammunition online.
Where did the money come from?
Gun control Internist ammunition online Possible illegal body armor? I don't know is it?
Could this be not a sick person but possible brain washed person? Strange thing is most people dress to kill would had been taken out and not surrendering. Then telling the police his apartment has incendiary devices.
Why would he tell the police?
I think neither! Just another way for forcing gun control.
Now how did gun control workout in Canada at the Mall?
Jun 2, 2012 – A gunman fired shots in a busy food court in one of Canada's busiest malls Saturday killing one man and injuring eight, police said.

There is much information about Homes gathering as as they piece this whole occurrence altogether (so we can understand why this young man lost it), all I can say is he could have used other methods in the killings, but he chose what is available. He's not the first and won't be the last and that's the scary part. I'm saddened by all the lives lost.

First it was mentioned possible shooter a member of the Tea Party movement by ABC News.
Then this came up over the week end:
This is reported to be a picture of Jame E. Holmes being removed from Occupy San Diego. (See update above.)
Wonder if after the Democratic cycle and recycled news over the weekend will report this news, a photo of possible arrest at an occupy movement in San Diego.

I think this kid by not talking and possibility not recognizing the court system can't be tried. It's just a said theory that some people have come up with, under possible Federal Reserve that we are a corporation that can be taxed and controlled by big government. If you don't recognized the court you can't be tried.
This will be a test of the Constitution, he will be labeled sick, as a mental games have begun.
Another headline:
Radical Left-Wing & Registered Democrat, Obama Supporter, Occupy Black Bloc Member James E. Holmes Shoots Up Aurora Co Movie Theater.
Could this be true? Can't be turned around on the Leftest can it?
Waiting for more SPIN.

From the little I have paid attention to, other than this was so unnecessary, is he came from an affluent family, had a great education and future ahead of him. He just threw his life away while taking other lives. With homeland security intact, why weren't his purchases caught in time!

With no job or major income how could he buy the armor bullet proof suit? The only difference was two items that the police don't wear the crotch protector and throat guard I think. It is said to restrictive.
Figure amount of over 20,000 dollars I would think it would be a flag if parents supported this guy.
Was he arrested at a San Diego OCCUPY?
Just heard the kid was getting 26,000 dollars a year for his studies, missed by whom, possible government payment.
College gave the money, only six students in this program per year this in the USA Today.

then they all start coming out NORWALK — A man is accused of making criminal threats at a screening of the new Batman movie at a Southern California theater. The Los Angeles county sheriff's office said Monday that 52-year-old Clark Tabor was being held on $50,000 bail. Deputies were called to the AMC Norwalk 20 cineplex around 5 p.m. Sunday after moviegoers complained of a man who started yelling when the showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" didn't start. Witnesses say Tabor then shouted, "I should go off like in Colorado," and, "Does anybody have a gun?" A security guard saw Tabor with a backpack on his knees in the second row, and Tabor was arrested. Deputies searched the bag, the theater and its surrounding area but did not find any weapon.

From the little I have paid attention to, other than this was so unnecessary, is he came from an affluent family, had a great education and future ahead of him. He just threw his life away while taking other lives. With homeland security intact, why weren't his purchases caught in time! Mink, you (and the rest of us) could spend eons trying to figure out what made that man do the evil he did. But it's a waste of time and energy. We don't have the capacity for the evil he allowed to rule him. Don't waste your time on even trying to figure him out. I expect that down the line more will come out about his past. A lot of times those types of people have tortured animals and gained immense feelings of power at having something subject to that "power". In time, they need more power and resort to inflicting harm on something more "equal" to them...in size, at least. They turn into monsters who can only live at the expense of others, whether it be rape, robbery or murder. The man is not worth the time and money it will take to prosecute him. As for "why his purchases were not caught in time".....there was no reason to block his purchases as he apparently did not have a criminal/mental history that would block such purchases. There are laws to govern purchases, and those laws MUST not infringe on the rights of the rest of us (all law-abiding citizens) to own and possess firearms. The fact that a few might abuse that right is why there are laws to govern the actions of those who do abuse that right. I notice that today's news says the purchases of firearms has spiked since the massacre, and that's a good thing. If someone in the theater that night had been armed, perhaps lives would have been saved. As expected, of course, the Left has again used this tragedy to send them on their march to rip up the Second Amendment, but that, too, will fail. Fortunately. Because someone uses a weapon, whether a gun or an automobile, to harm or kill humans is no reason to restrict the purchase and ownership of either of those items.
