Source ArticleThis article is very good and points out who the real Obama is. He is not the centrist most hoped for, as can be gleaned from his rhetorical acceptance speech. The dissection of it was very good. Also, if you look at the partisanship and pettiness and immaturity of our government, it was coming from one side of the isle for over six years. Now that they are in charge, they want to set it aside, because it will no longer work in their favor.

The partisainship and pettiness and immaturity. And yet even today we have McCainiacs and Bush / Rockefeller republicans attacking conservatives for the debacle and braying endlessly about how the country is "center-right" and how we must "play to the middle".
Horse shit.
Between two presidents Bush and a congress that got drunk on power and bent over backward to be "bi-partisan" the Rockefeller republicans have screwed us into a deep, dark place and the democrats, led by Mr. Obama and his ultra partisan Rahm (F**k the Republicans) Emmanuel as chief of staff, are going to have fun keeping us there.
As I've said elsewhere many times the McCain candidacy has to be the last ride of the Rockefeller republicans. While we can moderate to some degree in the interest of making appropriate deals that are in the best interest of the nation, we can not, repeat can not expect any hint of long term success by opening negotiation from the center. Look where that has gotten us to this point today.
In negotiation you start at opposite ends and meet in the middle. The opposite ends can drift some in their relation to dead center, but it still should start at somewhat opposite of each other.
If the democrats start on the left and the republicans start in the center, where, exactly does that put the point of compromise? It can't be any simpler than that. This is the case conservatives are going to need to make.
There needs to be less emphasis on this "center - right" horse shit and let's define what the right actually is. This is what President Reagan did, and the results are very hard to argue with unless you are a partisan Democrat in denial or a Rockefeller republican trying hard to carve out the squishy middle.
The next conservative revolution begins...... right here, right now. Jump on the train now or risk being left behind should be the message.

You are saying that The Obama has already jettisoned his campaign promises, is selling out his base, and is starting to reinvent himself? Thank you for admiting that he is the Chicago Machine politician we have been saying he is.

No, that's not what I was saying.
Would you rather see him pandering to his base? Didn't you have a nightmare about an unstoppable Reed, Feinstein, Obama superpower?
What you see as Obama "reinventing himself" is actually a mark of his intelligence. He is a dynamic thinker, unlike Bush. It may take you a while to get used to his style. He considers a course of action and then reconsiders it, if and when, conditions change. What a novel idea.

Spin it how you like, he's already wavering and waffling away, expect 4 long years of Obama-ites spin spin spinning...

I'm just glad he's making wise decisions with American's best interests in mind instead of "going with his gut."

No, that's not what I was saying. Funny... because that's what a bunch of folks in his hard left base are saying.

Saunterelle, methinks that you are so inured to the "bait and switch" tactic that you still believe that Bill Clinton is going to give you a "middle class tax cut." I have to give you credit, though, for sticking with your candidate no matter how much he abandons his campaign promises. We'll see how you feel two years from now.

Well, I always expected him to govern from the center and he's showing that he intends to do just that. Can't say that I'm thrilled about it but I feel it is better than taking our country on a hard turn to the Left.

So I am left to wonder Saunterelle that since Bush has been governing (other than the war) somewhat to the left of center for much of his presidency, can I infer from your statements that you expect Barack to govern to the right, e.g. closer to the true center than Bush?
