I ususally use "State" as a term of art for any level of government. But, you are correct, the feds have taken on more and more power. Actually, that isn't correct. We the People have allowed and expected the federal government to take on more and more power. Of course, we have also allowed the governments of the individual states to take more and more power at the expense of the county governments.

Another point to make here is most of the parents of these children are responsible tax paying citizens. They are responsible for healthcare, getting them registered in school and giving them a loving home. When it becomes impossible to do these normal duties, alittle help will benefit the country as a whole in that it helps the children grow up to be productive citizens.

I would argue that people were bought off using income tax dollars and jobs programs. We got a pig in a poke. |
