Heaven forbid anyone should have more than a 3-5 gallon can of gas laying around. The government regulators would have an absolute field day. I have a three gallon "approved container" in the shed for the eeeee-vil lawnmower. I'm still surprised that some squint from the city or the air quality police hasn't come and slapped me with some kind of fine for that. I bet if they found out I was considering buying a small generator for emergencies, and storing a couple of jerry cans of fuel for it, they'd be having little blue kittens and recommending me for prison. Lordy! Whaiy, I dee-clair, you sound like one of them rednecked, survivalist, militia types, Big Dog. Don't you fret yourself none, we all know that our dear gov'mnt will always be there to provide for your EV'RY need!

There are many bike and bus riders we can thank for the lower gas prices. Bush is in hiding, otherwise I might think he had something to do with it. Yeah, the financial meltdown had nothing to do with prices dropping across the board on many things. Except food of course.

Thank you Subjoe, Mink as you may or may not have noticed in the janky forum here if you use quick reply..there are no (bold type) or any other options. I am sure Mink knows this full well and was just being difficult. I was merely pointing to the fact that it would take an enormous leap in both bicycle commuters and also bus ridership. To create the enormous price change in gas we have seen in just a two month span. In fact I can guarantee you, you couldn't find data supporting your claim (outside the odd story on a person who changed their routine), since the price change came about so rapidly..the data couldn't even be processed yet by Mass transit organizations nor bike rider study groups. Furthermore your elitist attempt to dodge my question as "yelling", is comical when I imagine you knew full well what I meant. If you didn't well then LOL this is going to be one funny place to post. If you didn't maybe some web literacy classes are in order? I have read your previous attempts at making a rational argument here, and you are far from the elitist saint you'd like paint yourself now. I don't use quick reply, but thanks for clarifying your experience with it and for clarifying your previous response. Although the country has been in the same boat with the gas prices for some time now, it is amazing these odd stories of folks saving money by riding the bus, motorcycles, bicycles, commutting and carpolling, have not been grouped together to show a strong trend in influencing the price. I was merely giving these folks credit as a start in dealing with the situation. In hopes of finding an obvious contribution in a written article, instead, I find links of speculations with absolutely no credit to consumers accept to say the demand has lowered and to look for gas prices to hit $50.or less a barrel. Furthermore, when you join any forum and in this case, this "janky" forum, with an attitude like yours, you can expect to be ignored. Go back to Mayberry! Astounding. You have no concept of economics and economic forces, do you? Since the investments in oil were failing along with the rest of the financial market, the price of a barrel of oil had to drop drastically, just like all the homes now sitting empty. It amazes me that you can not deduce the answer of 1 + 1 = 2.

The oil price plunge has NOTHING to do with off shore drilling. It's the economy stupid! Something no New Deal politician knows anything about. In evidence, the current economic crisis, caused solely by New Deal policies.
