Yes, but real economic decline in this nation began under Hubert Humphery, You mean Herbert Hoover, right? He was a Republican, but he was a Wilsonian progressive and had served in Wilson's cabinet. After eight years of Republican free market solutions it was the progressive, statist Hoover that signed Smoot Hawley, raised taxes into an economic downturn and in general did just about everything he could to make a bad situation worse.

Yes, but Hoover did see the error of his ways. Franklin Delano Roosevelt never did.

Yes, but Hoover did see the error of his ways. Franklin Delano Roosevelt never did. True to a point. He was an anti-New Dealer, but wasn't very vocal about it during the 30's. He was an isolationist, like many / most prominent Republicans until the ball dropped at Pearl Harbor. That the Hoover Institution ultimately came to stand for securing and safeguarding peace, improving the human condition, and limiting government intrusion into the lives of individuals is a testament Hoover's ultimately seeing things a bit differently than he had in his youth.

Yes, that is very true. And, with Andrew Mellon to advise him, he may well have changed his ways sooner if he had been in office. But, he did start off as an isolationist, and the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act was signed by him. It is not the proudest Republican moment, but it is one we learned from. To this day though, the New Deal has not been properly discredited and is something that should be. It will then prevent the Democrats from striking the New-New Deals they want so badly.

Watch this video to see how The Obama handles contentious questioning from the press.
Did he say, "Sit down and shut up"?
PS. How do I post a YouTube video without that annoying ad box on the right?

It's still quite a stretch. Well until the 21 tapes with Rahm on them came out...... Please do explain this away..maybe try your stock "Obama had no knowledge"...or the old favorite "Obama can't be responsible for everyone that works for him"......... The plot sickens.
