To me, it is the height of presumptuousness to look at the increases in global temperatures, especially in light of the evidence that there have been similar swings in the Earth's temperature before, and think, (a) we alone are causing this; and (b) we can slow, or even reverse, it.
Instead of wasting time and money on a cap-and-trade system, which will surely be gamed by the unscrupulous ones among us, some of which, I'm sure, are Democrats, we should instead be devoting our time and energy into providing measures to third world countries to help them survive what will surely be the global climate changes they will have to endure along with the rest of us.
The climate has changed before, it is changing now, and it will change in the future. The only thing that is constant is change. Man has adapted before, we can adapt now, and, if we can push AlGore out of the way, we will be able to adapt in the future.
I explained it to my young daughters like this:
"We have this much history" (holding my arms outstretched)
"We have this much data" (holding my fingers 1 inch apart)

like i've said before.........man thinking he can change the earth's climate would be like pissing into the ocean and expecting the tide to turn.

And, how is it that Tom Brokaw can interview Al Gore for 40 minutes on Meet The Press, and never once mention nuclear power?

The nuclear option has been avoided like the plague by most on the left. I happen to think it should be strongly considered, although I'd like to see better options for disposal of spent fuel rods. Obama is open to the option of nuclear power as well in case you didn't know.

Well, he says they need to be looked at anyway. Even that is a big step forward. I think Barry is in the "Yes, but..." catagory. He isn't goiing to dismiss them out of hand like most progressives, BUT I would be willing to bet that he would advocate regulating them to the point the new nuclear power plants can't be built. Oh, did you know he got almost $200,000 from a nuclear workers group? Sounds like his is in the pockets of big nukes. (that last said with a bit of irony considering how the left throws around accusastions about conservative capons being in the pockets of big oil)

I started reading a book last night, totally unrelated to global whining warming. " Geology of the Sierra Nevada" is very interesting if you like hiking up there. Anyway, in the introduction to geology, the author says: Unless, of course, AlGore declares the case closed. Then, anyone who contradicts his outrageous claims is a heretic and a holocast-denier.

that is a GREAT little book. Some colleges use it at a geology text.

ooooops!!!
In a stunning turn of events data (quietly) released by NASA shows that the 4 warmest years ever recorded occurred in the 1930's, with the warmest year on record being 1934 (not 1998). Lets see if Al Gore revises his road show.

Lets see if Al Gore revises his road show. You mean the dustbowl years may have been hotter than the years Uncle Al told us were the hottest? He lied to us? And who in this admistration bullied NASA into witholding this important information?

I doubt seriously that anyone bullied NASA. Gore's climate guru is a dude named James Hansen, who happens to work for NASA and who launched, in many ways, the hysteria in this country twenty years ago when he testified before Congress. Professor Patrick Michaels has an excellent article on point available at The Cato Institute. And while on the subject of Professor Michaels, anyone desirous of a serious (and scientific) dose of fresh air concerning anthropogenic global warming and the hysteria surrounding it, would do well to read more of his work both editorial and scholarly. Available here.
