As usual a newspaper outside the US gets it dead right.

Good find, Big Dog. Thank you.
From the article: "Some Democrats worry that the scale and brazenness of the Governor's behaviour might implicate the President-elect by association. After all, Mr Obama rose through the ranks of Illinois Democratic politics and certainly never did much about challenging the corrupt culture. "
Isn't the axiom of the law "Silence give consent"? The Obama is a child of the Chicago Machine.

What I find "interesting" and quite "coincidental" (LOL),is that very shortly after "Hot Rod" had that expletive laced conference call. Saying he would not appoint "Barrys" pick absent some huge favors...."barrys" pick withdrew.
Now this is either some GIGANTIC coincidence..or someone on his team knew something. Something like Valerie Jarret wasn't getting the appointment without some favors.
So for him to say he and his team have had no contact I find that just a bit suspect. Or highly coincidental and since I don't believe in coincidences....

There are a couple of things to think about here, for which I am sure I will ultimately be pounded for by our friends on the left....
* For the President-elect to assert in blanket fashion that he had had no contact whatsoever, in his words, with Governor Blagojevich when there is photographic evidence in the press to the contrary is stunning.
* Campaign guru David Axelrod told an interviewer last month that Barack (and by derivation his staff) had spoken to the Governor about the open seat. Now the office of the president elect maintains that Axelrod mis-spoke at that time. Axelrod has disappearred and is not talking.
* Someone within the team is leaking that Rahm "F**k the Republicans" Emanuel may in fact have had direct contact with the Governor about the appointment. Rumors swirling out of the US Attorney's office are that Emanuel is on tape with the Governor, although that is merely rumor and no substance has been as yet disclosed. For his part Rahm "F**k the Republicans" Emanuel has been visibly absent from the team, muzzled and isn't talking on the record to anyone.
* The complaint against Blagojevich asserts that for expediency the affidavit in support of the complaint and arrest warrants that the government only included sufficient fact to support the complaint... a clear warning to Blagojevich and those around him and this situation that the government has much more that it hasn't gotten around to using yet, so if you're going to make a deal you better do it soon.
* Blagojevich is looking at up to 30 years federal time just on what he's been arrested for so far. Presuming the government has a bunch more stuff he could be looking at, potentially, life in prison. Think he's going to try and talk his way out of that?
* Jesse Jackson Jr., the self admitted "Candidate 5" says (in typical Chicago fashion) that he knows nothing about any potential payola, and still wants the Senate seat. I am sure he is hoping that his father's name (and not his father's reputation as a notorious greenmailer) will save his bacon. Whether it will or won't is going to be really interesting to see unfold.
While there is nothing in the public record as yet that puts Mr. Obama in the middle of any of this, the totality of the circumstances would lead a reasonable person to ask what did he know, and when did he know it.
On the flip side of it is the notion that all the hard core progressives and leftist loons that were the heartbeat of the Obama candidacy from day one have now had a rather rude awakening delivered to them. For all of his pallaver on the trail about "hope" and "change" the root of the matter, just like I and others told you, is that Barack is a product of the Chicago machine. Just like Blogojevich, Rahm "F**k the Republicans" Emanuel, and every elected state constiturional officer in Illinois.
And when one lives and works in a sewer, which is what Chicago politics is, while you may try to hold yourself above the filth, the stink will cling to you.
It's really very unfortunate, with as many truly important issues that we face as a nation, that the Obama administration is likely to begin under a very dark ethical cloud.
But then, that's the Chicago way.

Seems to me that the Obama team since long ago on the campaign trail. Has given Americans a new little gem, get out of jail free card.
"I Misspoke"
My Muslim Faith "I Misspoke"
57 States "I Misspoke"
Their Kids attend school together "I Misspoke"
"I know he's talked to the governor and there are a whole range of names many of which have surfaced, and I think he has a fondness for a lot of them." "I Misspoke"
Boy those two sure do misspeak a-lot.

This is a fair question. According to the news, the FBI started the investigation some time ago. I wonder how they find out crimes are in process?? At least we know Obama is calling for the governors resignation, which is to be expected. There is question of Rahm Emanuel's voice on some of the confiscated tapes. This is getting interesting, but regardless, I am still confident that Obama has good intentions for our country.

" I am still confident that Obama has good intentions for our country. "
Yet you did not give Pres. Bush the same confidence, did you? It really doesn't matter that The Obama has said all the right things about this, he is a shrewd politician after all, and being brought up through the Chicago Dem. Machine, he knows to throw others under the bus at need.
Also, his "good intentions" don't seem to extend to following either the letter or spirt of the Constitution, a document he has once sworn to defend (text of the oath of a senator: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God.) , and will do so again in just a bit more than a month (from Art. II Sec. 1 Clause 8 of the Constitution of the United States: I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my Ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.) Be kind of nice if we could find some of his proposed programs that pass constitutional muster.

Please note that I didn't bring up Bush.
Until Obama has been found guilty of wrong doing or poor ethics, I will hold my opinion, but I am watching all politicians.

I know you didn't bring up Pres. Bush, I did. You seem to be willing to cut The Obama slack that you wouldn't give to Pres. Bush. You express confidence in The Obama based on what? His campaign speeches? His gift for oratory? It sure can't be his record, since he doesn't really have one.
I'll also note that you tried and convicted Pres. Bush on evidence just as shaky as the suppositions being thrown out about The Obama. Why the double standard?

Subdjoe, what has Obama done that I am cutting him slack?
On topic is the governor of Chicago, who has been investigated, is being investigated and in question. Obama is calling for his resignation. I would think you find that action alone noteworthy.

Subdjoe, what has Obama done that I am cutting him slack? On topic is the governor of Chicago, who has been investigated, is being investigated and in question. Obama is calling for his resignation. I would think you find that action alone noteworthy. To start with, just guilt by association, as the left used against Pres. Bush. Add in his stonewalling on just about everything in his past other than that he is ashamed of his white heritage. Then, for extra flavor, toss in his trend towards the trappings of imperialism (the first pres-elect to throw press confrences with "Office of the Pres. Elect" signs). As for The Obama calling for Rod to resign, that is the politically expedient thing for him to do. If he kept silent, as he did with the corruption that was all around him as a politician in IL, then the assumption would be that he had no problem with what Rod was doing. Again, I'm just affording The Obama the same treatment the left greeted Pres. Bush with. Just playing by the rules the left put into play.
