Not worthy of posting on a serious board, but its a nitpick of mine.
I'm irritated that Pepsi is going to the 8 pack, and charging the price of a 12 pack.
I realize the economy forces them to take action, but I'd rather just pay more for a 12 pack out of convenience.
I'm a Pepsi shareholder, and I see this as a short-sided move. They may get a better bottom line short term, but lose customers long term (since Coke still offers 12 packs).
I also take offense to companies that think they are tricking customers by giving LESS at the same price.

This is a common trend - downsizing the package but keeping the price the same. Or, downsizing contents by 25%, the size of the package by 10% so it is hard to notice, and the price by 5% so it seems like you are getting a break. Until you look closely.

i agree. i'm a pepsi drinker but i usually buy the 36 packs at food mex. oops, i mean food max. i have noticed that ice cream makers have been shrinking packages for a while now. first they cut the normal half gallon containers down to 1.75 qts. and they were on "sale." great deal, huh? not. now dreyers (and others are following suit) come in 1.5 qt. container at a "special" price. i'm sure they are fooling some folks.

For the record, I'm buying Coke for as long as they hold onto 12 packs.
Even though I like Pepsi more, I'm not going to inconvenience myself with 8 packs.

for the record, i do prefer the pepsi in 8 ounce cans because it is a more sensible quantity for a soda (remember the 6 oz cokes?) but a six pack of those smaller cans costs way more than the 12's. seems a bit backwards to me but.....

I noticed the same for those miniature Christmas candies, Hershey's, Reeces's....etc. Lower price, smaller bag and smaller amount. If it wasn't for Christmas, I would have boycotted too.

Well, I hate to be the outsider, but we don't buy Pepsi, Coke etc. I will drink Pepsi/Coke maybe 6-8 x a year! As I get slightly older I've decided that drinks full of sugar are not good for us, or for children either, empty calories etc. Maybe the best solution is not buy it at all?!

Maybe the best solution is to allow the consumers and individuals to make a choice on their own, without the moral platitudes of others getting in the way.
