It's a little to little, a little too late. But, it fulfills the progressives need to ease their guilt.

What are you talking about? Progressive policies would have saved this man's life! How can you say that the stimulus package wouldn't have saved him? Had Bush not forced the cut of $1 billion that was marked to specifically address the situation this veteran found himself in, there is a good chance he would have survived. You can't honestly tell me that the Democrats are heartless, if anyone is heartless here it's the Republicans, they have this guy's blood on their hands.

Well, it is a progressive city, with a progressive population and a progressive government that has instituted progressive policies for their progressive municipal utility. Well, I think the progressive policies failed. I would say the way the Progressive Policy and the Progressives handled this situation was not only heartless, but it revealed exactly what progressives really think of their constituents. Why don't you just come out and say you want the Federal Government to be the dictator of all policy in the United States. Then you could have all your conservative rivals carted of to re-education camps to adjust to the new society you wish to install. Those who fail to adjust can just be eliminated. Come on you Bill Ayers clone, say it the way your really mean it. You don't believe in freedom.

You fail to see the way the Federal Government could (and should) have helped in this case. Detroit is a poor city, it is struggling. Detroit's administrators don't have the money to provide these sort of assistance programs even if they wanted to. The fact is that Bush and the Republicans caused this by cutting assistance from the stimulus package. Face it, this vet's death could have been prevented, and it would have been, had Democrats been in control.

All they had to do was to wait until the weather improved. Instead, they killed him. That, like it or not, was the result of progressive policy. Also, you don't seem to understand much. Why is this place so poor if it has been run by progressives for more then 20 years? It is not the Federal Governments job to fix everything. It is not my job to make sure people living in Michigan have heat, that is the job of the people in Michigan. The only reason Michigan is so poor right now is wholly due to DEMOCRAT POLICIES enacted in the 1930's to protect the Automobile Industry and the UAW. That is why our Federal Taxes are outrageous. I can not afford to take care of everyone. I would prefer to help my fellow Californians first.

Okay, by your logic, states in the South are poor and undereducated because they're controlled by Republicans.

States in the South may be poorer in $$$, but they are wealthy beyond equal in generosity & patriotism. What would you give your life for? Who(besides Obambi)would you give your paycheck to?

But that has nothing to do with their political affiliation. I was simply pointing out that bolverk's logic is flawed, once again.

So, according to the yellow bird, or the genuflecting lemming of the left here, only the Federal Government can save American citizens from hypothermia. Is that correct? And we can only do it with Federal Heating Subsidies, right?
You know what, you are so full of bullshit it is getting on my screen. You deny that progressive policies in a progressive state, city and county were part of the problem. Then, in some stretch of reality that boggles the mind of clear thinking human beings, your BDS kicks in and you blame Bush for not providing subsidies. You are so far gone that you even fail to see all the layers of administration to get money to a 93 year old man in need. And, you further loose all credibility when you insist that the Federal Government, and only the Federal Government, could help this man.
You know what, harpman1 was right, you are not even as intelligent as a bag of hammers.

I guess you could call it "saving them." The Federal Government can act as a safety net to ensure that people, such as this unfortunate veteran, don't fall through the cracks. The Government you want doesn't have ANY safety nets. That is why the Republican system (pure capitalism) is heartless.

Ok, let me set you straight, before FDR bastardized our system, the States did a far better job of caring for their citizens then the Federal Government has since all of the new programs started by FDR or any party since ever has. THAT IS WHAT I WANT BACK, THE REAL AMERICA. NOT SOME SOCIALIST COUNTRY WITH POLITICIANS LOOKING TO APPOINT THEIR FRIENDS TO HIGH PAYING FEDERAL GOVERNMENT POSITIONS. THAT IS HOW FDR KILLED THIS NATION.
Do you got it now? We did far better caring for our own in our own states then the Feds have since 1933. PERIOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT, BUT YOU CAN'T DISPUTE IT. This man died because of attitudes like yours. Everyone lining up for Federal handouts. A country of slaves working for the Fed.
