I see in today's PD, all indicators point to this. Wow. I guess I'm letting the lawns die this summer. An article the other day stated that if SR imposes a 50% mandate, you'll only be able to water trees and shrubs, no lawn. I wonder if my concord grapes qualify as shrubs?
I'm really hoping for some whopper storms in Feb and March. I'm not holding my breath though.

I'm going to focus on my garden. Vegetables will be sky high priced at the market. I'm betting we get our storms though.

Mink I sure hope we get the storms. What galls me is that they'll raise water rates too. We'll also focus on the garden and let the rest dry up and blow away as mrbose puts it.

i hope they try to ration my water. i'm just the kind of a-hole who will intentionally let my water run down the drain.
can't wait to get the hell out of this nanny state that can't manage it budget, water, education system, and everthing else.

can't wait to get the hell out of this nanny state that can't manage it budget, water, education system, and everthing else. It's gotten out of control hasn't it? Between the smoke cops, the water cops and everything else, it's driving me crazy. I bought a cord of wood this winter in hopes of using that to heat the downstairs instead of running the furnace all the time. Now everytime I turn around they've declared a spare the air day because someone in my area may have asthma.

Will the county and the municipalities be cutting back too? Stop watering in the parks, schools, ball fields, and so on? Or will all those places still have nice green lawns?

I saw sprinklers going willy nilly at the new city hall complex in Rohnert Park yesterday in the mid-afternoon. I doubt they are going to let all that pretty sod turn brown. Do as they say, not as they do. I also find it pathetic that RP is trying like hell to ban smoking almost everywhere including sidewalks, private apartments, parks, and golf courses! I don't smoke but this is getting stupid. Aren't there some budget, education, crime issues they should be dealing with first? But then again the government always knows best, right?

As mentioned in numerous other threads, CA has really turned into a nanny state. I think our liberal overlords have too many fingers in the pie.

I've had people tell me, when I berate the SCWA for not keeping pace with storage capacity, that there is more than enough storage capacity for our population in SoCo. Let's see... the last major storage project was Lake Sonoma. When it was built....
** SoCo had a population about half of what it does now. ** Some of the cities (i.e. Petaluma) were storing / providing a percentage of their own need, all of which has been abandoned in favor of SCWA. ** SCWA wasn't actively selling water to North Marin Water District.
More centralized government control = Stalinist water politics.

Gee the 5 acre park down the street from me is kept lush and green. Last summer when Windsor was asked to cut back 15%, they kept those sprinklers busy. The PD ran several articles advising people how to replace their lawns. I'm all for doing my part, but I don't like being told one thing while Big Brother does the opposite. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to see if the Cardinals can pull one off.
