Well, I keep asking myself that question.
And though I have seen some good posts, I don't feel anything is being accomplished by continuing to contribute to this forum. I think we are divided and will remain so. Since I do not want to continue to contribute to the negativity, a reason I changed my account, I feel all conversations are drawn in that direction.
So, as a result, I am going to discontinue posting in the forum. There is not a real dialog that is productive taking place, so why continue to contribute.
Farewell.

While you are certainly entitled to your opinion, a dialog is supposed to be exactly that. Give and take.
I hang out at other places where the 'dialog' is like preaching to the choir.... which is why I post here more than I do there.
Do with that what you will, and accept my best wishes.

I agree on give and take. But that is not what I see as the problem. I guess what it boils down to is that I am tired. I am not confident that the next four years is going to be a path I want to be on. And I don't want to move further and further away from individual freedom. I don't have any say in how my money is spent, my President is putting us further in debt, even after seeing that the last stimulus package failed us miserably. The stimulus checks they sent us was a drop in the flowing river. And now I am paying to kill babies in the womb in the United States and overseas, how am I supposed to feel good about myself and my Country when they can force me to pay for things like that.

Then the only thing left is to stand and fight the battles that you can.... I do, every day.

Yeah, you are right. I am just having a down day today. I am not sure that the contributions I make with my posts are being heard at all. I care deeply about the direction of the country and I don't see much personal freedom being protected anymore. I will shake it off. Perhaps just some time to clear my head is all I need.

I guess every time I think of the plight of our nation, I should remember that Democrats rely on people like this:

Well if it's any consolation, I hear them.

I know how you feel, Moondog. A voice crying in the wilderness. You are trying to stem the tide of emotion and feelings with fact. A difficult and thankless task.

It's similar to the way liberals felt after 9/11. Saber rattling, false patriotism, and fear mongering was the drumbeat that rallied support for a huge mistake of a war that still continues to this day. Not to mention having to live with this:

In all honesty moondog, I hope you don't stop posting. I thoroughly enjoy bantering with you and I do have great respect for your positions even though it might not come through in my posts.

moondog, bolverk, whatever...When I read the nomination results today I was surprised that you didn't get a vote or two for #2, or #5 and I'm guessing it is because of your, well, um, "directness." Yeah, thats good. Oddly, I felt bothered that you didn't get a mention for your work since you DO post a lot of information and seem to be very knowledgeable about many subjects. If only you could soften the delivery? Anyway, while you can be well, you know... for the most part you've been respectful (as much as one can expect) to me and I hope you continue. We all have our down days! Yeah, yeah, yeah, I know you don't give a ---- what I think or feel... I know.
