Saunterelle: Mink, no worries about the accidental smite. I won't hold my breath awaiting positive karma." ______________________________________________ I fixed my accident and will continue to push you towards the positive! I never saw any reason why so many put you in the negative anyway....... As for religion, I still agree with you. "Religion is nuts".....well, in this case as in many, has proved the point.

Thanks Mink, much appreciated.

Nobody knows what lies beyond the universe. When the Bible was written, nobody knew what lied beyond the moon. Nobody knew the world was round. Why can't we be satisfied not knowing? Why would you believe the stories in the Bible as the absolute truth more than those in the Koran or the one the guy down the street tells you?
Science tells me that wild rats are dirty and carry diseases, just like dog's mouths are cleaner than cat's mouths, etc.

In part I agree with saunterelle. Religion is a belief system, no proof that any one religion is the "right" religion, or that any of it is true.
I do however respect those who have strong religious values, and I think it is good for people to have something to believe in that is bigger than themselves. I think inner peace is found when one looks to a higher power, and it can't be a bad thing to think that when passing on one goes to a place that is loving and calm. If religion (generally speaking) can keep people honest and moral I think that is another positive.

Seems to me that the "offended" Muslims are completely intolerant of the views of the rest of society who think puppies are cute, and police dogs are valuable.
Such religious based attitudes are nuts!

You can argue that society needs religion to control a population, but you can't argue that religion isn't nuts when it's based on blind faith. And yet you put your blind faith with Obama, and untested politician who lied to get his very first job in politics.

This blind faith angle is quite interesting. Religion is all about blind faith. Politics aren’t always about blind faith, but certainly can be. In the case of Obama, you have actual actions and words to base your faith on, or you can feel that there are not enough actions or words to go on. You can use the actions and words to support your faith in him, or use the same actions and words, or lack thereof, to support your position that he is not one to follow. It all in the interpretation. Like when Obama says he is for change. There are those whose blind faith in Obama tells them that he will do good for them by making the change happen. There are others who look for proof, or evidence, of what that change will be. They see that such change is not good, or they see nothing to support what this change might be, so they do not follow. I don’t mind someone who just sees something differently, as long as there is something tangible… more than blind faith, behind their belief.

faith is believing in something you can't prove. i have faith that the sun will come up tomorrow although i don't know for sure that it will.

I believe that the sun will come up tomorrow and there is some factual basis for that belief, not just blind faith. It comes up every day as the earth rotates on its axis. Scientific proof!
