M.O. still looks like she should be playing linebacker to me. Yeah, better photos, but... (and I thought that N. Reagan should have been playing the Wicked Witch in WoO, just to show I'm not biased)

He-he, Michelle does look more of the athletic type than Carla, but I sure admire their height and Carla is stunning. If Michelle wasn't so fashionable and poised, she might qualify for a tennis player or roller derby queen, not that they couldn't be as feminine, btw. I think Barbara Bush would make a better linebacker....
Anyway, the point is that both First Ladies interacted with class and style, nice to see.

No, I'm thinking more the leather helmet era linebacker, Mink. Sorry.

Regardless of the fawning review from the HuffPo, Michelle's out of her league. Barack's Chief of Protocol should be fired for not dressing the First Lady appropriately.

I'm at a disadvantage on two counts. I never actually read the words in huff po (why waste my time), and I'm not qualified to be the fashion editor. I just don't know what the protocol/fashion gaffe is. I just like to separate a woman's good qualities from her (and/or her husband's) political beliefs.
Yes of course Michelle's out of her league, this is brand new to her. Give her time. She may be the best thing about the next four years... the bar is that low!
Oh one other thing... it's Bush's fault anyway. Obviously if she erred in protocol it's because the Bush team kept valuable information from the Obamaniacs!!!

Exactly, how is she "out of her league" regarding protocol and fashion? What did you expect her to wear? Since inauguration, Michelle has been receiving rave reviews. As for protocol in general, if Michelle erred, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth didn't notice.

Sorry to say MO is not impressive in the pics, the pant suit is ugly and NOT flattering at all. Disappointing.

I do have to admit that pant suit could have been more "springy", but the link counters the other post that implied Michelle was shunned by Carla.....not true.

Good stuff. The illusion of dress. Modern politics has not evolved from ages ago, only the method (digital TV) of theatrics on stage.
During the Dark Ages, the King or Queen would come forth to allow their subjects viewing of what richeousness is to be. Hence the suit and tie.
Someone once declared 'clothing does not make the person'. Satire journalism was once distinguishable from news. I think now that the satire-opinion-news pages are intermixed.
Europe is forever a subject of the King. Even today their values reflect this class separation. Frances revolution solidified class structuring by removing the King and creating the new ruling privileged class - politicians.
We need not go there, some two hundred plus years of individuality to divorce ourselves from the Kingdom. Look intensely at our last 100 years and the current struggle of separation.
