I see that the naughty word list has had some recent additons. I didn't know that there had been a problem with those added words. I guess I missed all the fun. Who was calling whom those vulgar terms for a womans genitalia? On what thread?
And one of those now censored words has other uses. What if we want to discuss that fine poem "The Owl and the Pussy cat?"
Why should that be offensive?
My opinion is that words should NOT be banned until, or unless, they are used in an offensive and derogatory manner. Other than a few back and forths of 'idiot' and the occasional hell, damn, or crap or emphasis, I have not seen any bad or offensive language. We all seem to be adults here. Let's not make the a priory assmumption (oh! that has 'ass' in it, can I still use it?) that we will act like school children who have just learned some naughty words and are looking for chances to use them.
Of course, the nanny-staters (I'm making the assumption that it was one of the liberals, uh, progressives, or whatever they are calling themselves this week who requested the additions) here base their whole outlook and philosophy on limiting people and assuming that we all need protection from everything. And that unless guided and controlled by someone outside ourselves will be unable to control our baser natures. I do find it somewhat ironic that those who make the loudest claims about being tolerant, diverse, and inclusive are also the ones who are first to try to place limits on thoughts, ideas, and expression.
