Absolutely. A cop has been through extensive training and mental evaluation in order to protect and serve. If you let any old nutcase own a semi-auto weapon there's no telling what they will do with it. Unfortunately, we have see school shootings and the like happen far too frequently.

And you don't think that Subdjoe, New Guy, Big Dog, etc. have had EXTENSIVE TRAINING with semi-autos?
I don't think anyone on this forum is advocating the possession of firearms by nutcases. I certainly wouldn't want YOU to have one.

Bullshit on the extensive training. In general, cops are not good shots. SWAT, yes. Older cops who grew up with guns, yes. Most of the younger ones - nope. I've seen a lot of them shoot. Psyc evaluations? Cops commit suicide at a rate of about 18/100k, as opposed to about 11/100k in the general population. And, from what I have been able to find, cops commit homicide (talking off duty, not trying to make an arrest or anything) at roughly the same rate as the general population. So, bang goes your bigoted opinion. And, I like that you consider the average honest citizen a "nut case." School shootings? A double handful in as many years? The only thing that makes them seem common is that they stay on the front page for weeks, and then get dragged out in every disscussion. |

Great that means many of us here can qualify for one. After years of military training including jungle warfare & SERE plus not being an old nutcase or a bad shot like some police officers I qualify ;D |

surely, he doesn't think that even with my years and years of training and USE of semi-automatic rifles and pistols that i should be allowed to have one. right santurelly?
afterall, napolitano has declared me (among others in this forum) to be a right-wing terrorist type because i espouse patriotism.
