I got a kick out of the lyrics that someone came up with to match Joe Cocker singing "almond love" (joke). www.aginghipsters.com/Joe Cocker and Pavarotti, seems like an unlikely duo. If I were Cocker I'd be totally humiliated. Pavarotti if fabulous...After video plays search in the same box that image is playing in for other Cocker performances to see Pavarotti.

Hey , thanks for sharing JMO. It took me years to appreciate Joe Cocker.......but I sure miss the jams created by some of the boomers.
Actually, there is a youngster, Johnny Lang, who developed, out of nowhere, the same throaty quality (at around 16 yrs. of age) and Cocker is one of the comparisons.
Sorry, missed the joke but like the post!!

Mink, some of the posters were poking fun at Cocker's lyrics and lack of clarity that goes with them. The text that is next to him singing is funny since they do sound like "got a letter from my Fred," or "oh I'll take this almond love" etc. The title of the real song is: With a little help from my friends. It's all a play on words.
I do appreciate his sound for the nostalgic value anyway.
I thought a Baby Boomer thread would be fun. I'm sure some people here can relate, and I'll bet there's ton of fun stuff out there to post.

Whoa....good job JMO. Yes, some baby boomers experienced more than myself, but I sure witnessed it........ we (my siblings) were "protected" as our friends told us. Indeed, those were different times, but they were happy, safer and affordable compared to now. Who knows, maybe the good times will re-emerge and life won't seem so dismal, the collective whole will celebrate again Then again, that is from my perspective. When one is protected, one doesn't see the sad, bad or negative side of life as it can be.

Mink, I'm glad you enjoyed!
I feel very grateful to have been raised in old Petaluma and have fond memories of innocent times. I still have connections from my childhood and treasure them more every day.
I hate to say the young will never know what many of us had in the more innocent/sheltered times. It is my hope that society will slow down and embrace what really matters in life, family, friends, neighbors, connections to people rather than what can be monetarily obtained, or how many electronic devices they can get lost in for hours at a time.
I also think if we all stop for a moment and drop our agendas and preconceived stereotypes we may actually once again feel like a united society/country. One can dream anyway...
