(RTTNews) - Famed prop comedian Gallagher, whose real name is Leo Anthony Gallagher, was rushed to the hospital after collapsing on stage during a performance in Rochester, Minnesota.
TMZ reports that he was in the middle of his signature watermelon-smashing routine when he collapsed. Witnesses said that he was clutching his chest and shaking. There were a number of doctors present in the audience who came to his assistance.
The comedian's manager, Craig Marquardo, said he was not certain what made Gallagher collapse but that he was in the hospital overnight in stable condition.
According to the Rochester Post-Bulletin, one witness claimed that the comedian was complaining of shortness of breath and pain in his left arm before the show. The same witness said that Gallagher was conscious while the emergency crew took him away.

Manager says comedian Gallagher suffered heart attack in Rochester Associated Press Updated: 03/11/2011 08:52:27 PM CST
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Gallagher's manager said Friday that the comedian is recovering from a minor heart attack after collapsing during a performance in Minnesota.
Craig Marquado said Gallagher will remain hospitalized at least one more night. He said Gallagher's two performances scheduled for Friday night in Illinois have been postponed.
Todd Powers, owner of Whiskey Bone's Roadhouse in Rochester, said the 64-year-old collapsed in the middle of a show there Thursday night.
A witness, Chris Blade, told the Rochester Post-Bulletin that Gallagher had complained of pain in his left arm and shortness of breath earlier in the evening. Blade said Gallagher was responsive when emergency crews were taking him out of the club.
Gallagher, whose real name is Leo Anthony Gallagher, is best known for smashing watermelons with a sledgehammer.
Any male over 50 should know his blood work.
