I was popping back and forth between Fox and MSNBC during both conventions. Although I find Keith Olbermann really irritating, I think Chris Matthews has insight. Matthews made a comment on Thursday night, while they were waiting for McCain to come on, which compared the Democrat and Republican conventions. Matthews described the Republican convention as "mercantile," as if that were a bad thing.
So, why is it wrong for Cindy McCain's father to sell everything he owned, pack the whole family up and move to St. Louis to take over a beer distributorship, which eventually turned into a multimillion dollar operation, but it's OK for Brad Pitt or George Clooney to make one or two movies a year and rake in millions? Why is it OK for George Soros to short the dollar on the international exchanges and make millions?
