As we wade through the options that face us in resolving California's recurring budget mess, let us not forget this quote from David Kieffer, an executive director with Service Employees International Union, as reported in the LA Times:
"Go get a deal done," said David Kieffer, executive director of the state council of the influential Service Employees International Union, in a challenge to Brown and the Legislature. Californians "would vote the taxes down," he said, and "they don't actually need to be involved in this decision."
Right! Why ask the voters? They'll just say NO, like they did before. Man up and pass this tax increase! The unions will cover you later.
