In the President's speech tonight, he announced a pull-out date for American troops in Afghanistan. The astute reader will recall that President Bush resisted efforts from Democrats to put an end date on America's commitment to Iraq. Did he know something that Obama doesn't?

If you check, Pres. Bush did have a rough timeline for pulling US troops out of Af. Obama seems to be following it.

I recall that Bush was pressured into talking about an end date to the commitment of troops by the Dems after they took control of the House. However, Bush couched his end date in terms of being in conformance with the recommendations from his generals. Obammy, on the other hand, has brushed aside the recommendation from Gen. Petraeus of a two-year timeline and announced his own one-year timeline. This judgement is based, no doubt on Obama's considerable experience in foreign affairs and global conflict.

One thing you have to say for the Democrats, they know how to end a war.
