(AP) -- An angry Deltona father whacked his teenage daughter's boyfriend with a metal pipe after finding the boy naked in his daughter's room. Authorities say the father, 45, didn't even know his daughter had a boyfriend or that the youngster had been sneaking into the home for more than a year. When he heard noises coming from his daughter's bedroom Thursday morning and saw a stranger standing naked on the girl's bed, he swung a metal pipe. He then chased the teen out the front door and called police. The boy was taken to the hospital where doctors closed a head wound with staples. The father was charged with aggravated battery on a child and bonded out on $10,000. I'm wondering why the dad was charged with anything. Especially "aggravated battery on a child." He saw a stranger in his house, naked, in his daughters room. What the hell was he supposed to think? "Oh, just my minor daughter having sex with someone I don't know? Gee, I hope they are using 'safer sex' practices." It sounds like the dad needs to pay a bit more attention to what goes on in his house AND he needs to be a bit more involved in his daughters life. A YEAR she was sneaking the guy in?

Yeah, kids do things. That's why we call them "children" and at that age.....try to remember what hormones were like. What I have a problem with is "the state". Discretionary decision does not simply happen while on duty, but can be "clarified" in the courts. There is just to much of a propensity for "the state" to find guilt in actions that CAN be justified. Maybe he had a lousy attorney? Maybe the kid said, "Hey, I'm a 14 year old" and when asked to prove his ID, his wallet was in his pants? OK, so I wasn't there....but dang, surely the judge has a kid and can cut dad some slack, or is it men are not allowed to defend women anymore AND rewarded for doing so? Or defending women is punishable and that may be decided only by a reasonable woman? I don't know.....I'm getting a cuppa.

Wow, it's a good thing the dad doesn't own a gun! First, that is an unwarranted assumption on your part. We have nothing saying he does or does not own a firearm. Second, if he does own firearms, he may have made a choice to NOT use one for fear of hitting his daughter. Not all bullets hit the intended target. Some that do pass through. He may have weighed the options and decided that a firearm was not the appropriate tool for the job. Third, there is a good chance that if he did have a firearm, the little thug would not have been injured at all. Firearm owners are far from the trigger happy drones that HCI and our oh, so tolerant, diverse and inclusive leftist wish they were.

Wow, it's a good thing the dad doesn't own a gun! Again, welcome back. I won't reply to your statement, as you have already been shown the error of your ways.

If it had been in my house it wouldn't have been just a single crack in the head. The kid got off easy...
