Paul Newman, one of the last of the great actors, died this weekend. My favorite movie is " "The Sting".....good-bye blue eyes and thanks for the entertainment www.people.com/people/package/gallery/0,,20229386_20219605,00.html

Newman's public & private life served as an example to today's Hollyweirdos that their self-absorbment & hubris are detrimental to themselves & society as a whole. His only son was sacrificed on the altar of drugs & excess. He then dedicated his life to an active rejection of those excesses, and put his millions where his mouth was. An example to all that resentment is poison, and compassion is redemption.

Subjoe, I don't have my Cassel's Latin Dictionary anymore - translation, pls.
I saw P.L. Newman up close and personal when I was working a race at Laguna Seca. He owned the Newman-Haas Racing Team and he was always in the pits, overseeing the effort. Paul was stately and dignified while everyone else around him was running around like crazy. He even smiled and turned to me when I called his name.
Yes, he was a great actor, but he was also a great driver and a great team owner. Plus, he made a pretty good dressing.

Oh, sorry. I just figured EVERYONE knew Latin!
Through many countries and over many seas I have come, Brother, to these melancholy rites, to show this final honour to the dead, and speak (to what purpose?) to your silent ashes, since now fate takes you, even you, from me. Oh, Brother, ripped away from me so cruelly, now at least take these last offerings, blessed by the tradition of our parents, gifts to the dead. Accept, by custom, what a brother’s tears drown, and, for eternity, Brother, ‘Hail and Farewell’

Did the profits from his dressing go to charity or am I mistaken?

Did the profits from his dressing go to charity or am I mistaken? Indeed, you heard correctly nufsaid. The company's motto: "Shameless Exploitation in Pursuit of the Common Good" www.newmansown.com/Newman's Own has grown into a powerful and lasting expression of Paul Newman's generosity. The Company has generated over $250 million in proceeds that have been donated by Paul Newman and the Newman's Own Foundation to thousands of charities worldwide. Particularly close to his heart were the Hole in the Wall Camps, now the leading global family of camps for children with life-threatening illnesses, which Paul started over 20 years ago. ________________________________________________ The good thing is, it looks like they will continue his legacy.
