A READER AT A MAJOR NEWSROOM EMAILS: "Off the record, every suspicion you have about MSM being in the tank for O is true. We have a team of 4 people going thru dumpsters in Alaska and 4 in arizona. Not a single one looking into Acorn, Ayers or Freddiemae. Editor refuses to publish anything that would jeopardize election for O, and betting you dollars to donuts same is true at NYT, others. People cheer when CNN or NBC run another Palin-mocking but raising any reasonable inquiry into obama is derided or flat out ignored. The fix is in, and its working." I asked permission to reprint without attribution and it was granted.

This is just soooooo very typical. It is not, and hasn't been for a while, about reporting the news. It is about managing the content and, hence, influencing what we the "great unwashed" get to know.

My opinion.... the 527 Media has become exactly that. They have stepped outside of their Amendment One rights and should be regulated rigidly under all applicable rules, including McCain-Feingold.

Here's a good example:

The Sunday SF Chron leads off with an article by Saunterelle's favorite writer, Carla Marinucci, titled "Dems Slam McCain's Mercurial Campaign"

In the run-up to the year's first presidential debate, McCain shocked the political world by saying he was suspending his campaign to work out a deal on the emergency financial bailout in Washington, and issuing an off-again, on-again vow not to debate until a plan was delivered.

But after sparring with Sen. Barack Obama at the University of Mississippi, the Arizona senator didn't personally plunge back into the negotiations on Saturday. He stayed in his Virginia condo for most of the day and visited his nearby campaign headquarters. McCain chief adviser Mark Salter said the candidate "can effectively do what he needs to by phone." McCain called President Bush and Republican leaders to discuss the $700 billion proposal to stabilize the economy.

Where's the "fairness" article about Obama? Wasn't he phoning in his suggestions, also?

Sean Hannity has been stressing that this is the year that the Main Stream Media has completely lost its credibility. In the Internet age, who needs print media or Chris Matthews anymore?

Just to prove that they are "fairly unbalanced," the media has selected Gwen Ifill to moderate the Veep Debate this Thursday.
