Storm coming in tomorrow should drop 3 to 4 inches of rain The pump stations (Lynwood and Chedda Creek in Flood Zone 1 east of Novato) have a capacity to remove the water from a 6" storm The pond was originally made to hold 5 feet of run off in its 290 acres. Rep Lyn Woolsey's first bill in Congress passed was to turn the Hann Ranch holding pond into a bird sanctuary and wetlands ($8 million dollars) and the pond has filled in with about 2.5 feet of sediment A storm dropping more that 7" of rain would fill the holding pond beyond it new capacity and the excess water will pour out the grate at the Hahn Shopping center flooding Rowland Blvd and Hwy 101 6" rain storms takes the pumps almost 2 days to pump out the water. If another storm hits during that 1.73 days there will be flooding and damage to the tracks along the east end of the Hahn Shopping center (Seems the shopping Center settled at over 11" in a few years rather than the 4 or 5 the engineers designed) The last time this happened was February 13, 2000 during El Nino when Rowland Blvd was flooded and Hwy 101 threatened. (That was a 4" storm) With the Smart train tracks flooded and/or washed out, the split at Ignacio to points east would be stopped Ole Farhad is going to be sweating this one out...

6.4 high tide at noon tomorrow and then about 6 ft until Sunday.
With out heavy rain fall from the Pineapple Express, they typically are OK through Flood Zone #1
Not like the December 6th, 1983 storm that dropped 12 inches in 24 hours.
That was probably a 100 year storm...

Heard there was flooding at a Novato exit, don't know if it was this one.
