I didn't hear the um's, ah's as you described other than Obama trying to be honest and telling us straight out beforehand. I have to give him respect for that. At least we know what will happen and why. He makes sense.

There was no date listed to decipher that surefire, but at least we know ahead of time. We know nothing of what Mccain is planning.

Ah, so extortionate electric prices, which will cause huge increases in the price of manufactured goods, is OK because Barry gives us a warning about it. What about the low income people who will no longer be able to afford electricity? I see. Well, I suppose that there will be some sort of tax put on power to fund another give away. And of course all that retrofitting will mean tax deductions for the power companies. Which will mean even less tax revenue which will mean a higher income tax. Yeah, real good. I can hardly wait.
Of course, we can expect the Greens to block solar, wind and water power projects. Or I should say continue to block them because the change run off, or reflect too much, or birds get killed, or we can't run the power transmission lines.
Expect the raw food movement to gain converts - many people won't be able to afford, or be allowed, to cook.

The economist says, "In the long run, we're all dead." Perhaps in this case, it'll happen sooner that we had originally thought.
Obama tries to make the case that he will drag us, kicking and screaming, into a post-carbon future. Kinda sounds like one of Mao's Five Year Plans, doesn't it? Don't pay any attention to the short term pain and suffering that his plan will cost, because a brighter future awaits us. To put that another way, "The ends justify the means."

Whoever is still standing on Wednesday morning - or 6 weeks later, if Al Gore's display in Florida in 2000 is any indication - has to act through Congress. A McCain presidency, faced with a Democrat Congress, will make very little progress because Pelosi and Reid will be reluctant to give the president any victory at all. However,an Obama presidency would ensure that every hair-brained idea from the fringes of the Left stands a good chance of becoming law.

I think they will have too much cleaning up of the current admin. to do anything drastic, given the economy.

I think they will have too much cleaning up of the current admin. to do anything drastic, given the economy. You know, Mink, that excuse will only last so long. FDR was fortunate and was able to parlay that line into a third term. Nowadays, with the Internet and the 24-hour news cycle, it'll be lucky to last until 2010. It should be entertaining, however, to see Barney Frank blame the meltdown of Fannie and Freddie on a lack of regulation by the previous administration. The press is guaranteed to gobble it up, like a pigeon following a breadcrumb.
