*sigh* If you do not care to recognize the fact that the Bay Area contains some of the most intelligent, well educated, and politically aware people in America that's your problem. The statistics don't lie: The more educated a person is, the more likely they are to be liberal. It is YOUR party that preys on the dumb and uninformed.
I have traveled extensively. Here's a list for you: Mexico, Costa Rica, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, and Italy. Within the US I've visited 8 states.

And 6 countries Half of which are basically the same...and same landmass, and then a WHOPPING 8 states ( 8 WHOLE States?) is not "Extensive" travel....funny they are all backpacking hippie places..you've been... By that logic the 100$ in your life savings makes you "Wealthy".. LMAO

By that logic the 100$ in your life savings makes you "Wealthy".. LMAO Please explain which of the countries I've visited are "basically the same" and where you have traveled. See here for the entire article: www.psychologytoday.com/rss/index.php?term=20061222-000001&page=4 "Studies show that people who study abroad become more liberal than those who stay home.
People who venture from the strictures of their limited social class are less likely to stereotype and more likely to embrace other cultures. Education goes hand-in-hand with tolerance, and often, the more the better:
Professors at major universities are more liberal than their counterparts at less acclaimed institutions. What travel and education have in common is that they make the differences between people seem less threatening. "You become less bothered by the idea that there is uncertainty in the world," explains Jost.
That's why the more educated people are, the more liberal they become"

you're kidding, right?
while i applaud you for finally answering the question about your travels, i'm not all that impressed. virtual tours on the internet don't really count as being well travelled. also, brief visits to tourist spots don't really count as you do not become immersed in the real culture of those countries. studying abroad doesn't mean much either because most likely the places you may have studied at were liberal bastions. a semester at the university of milan doesn't provide you with much worldly knowledge.
you said, "The more educated a person is, the more likely they are to be liberal." i would say the more time a person spends at places like UC berkely and SSU supposedly studying instead of being a productive citizen is more the case. taking basket weaving classes at the JC until your 55 and smoking hoohah with your profs don't exactly make you more educated.
you said, "It is YOUR party that preys on the dumb and uninformed." have you seen the video posted above?

Now why would you jump to conclusions like that? You could simply ASK what I was doing abroad instead of making assumptions. In New Zealand and Australia I worked for 3 months and backpacked for 3 months. In Mexico I lived with a host family for a month after completing a Spanish language immersion program. In Costa Rica I surfed and camped up and down the west coast for a month. In Northern Italy I worked in a small town that had zero other Americans in it. In Brazil I stayed with my girlfriend's family in their small town 5 hours West of Rio.
No, the article I linked to from Psychology Today said that.
That video is ridiculous. Out of the millions of Obama voters they find a few who don't know much about our government. Big deal. There are uninformed voters on both sides of the spectrum.

If you know so much about our government saunterelle, then explain why congress has not been held accountable for the economic crisis they created. Explain why everyone incorrectly blames Bush for what is the responsibility of the Congress. The Economy Stupid.

Explain why everyone incorrectly blames Bush for what is the responsibility of the Congress. The Economy Stupid. Simple, the fact is that Bush and the Republicans were in control of the House, Senate, and Presidency for 6 years AFTER the Democrats, who you blame for creating the economic crisis, did their evil deed. Why didn't the Republicans take action to correct it during those 6 years? Fault through inaction is justification for blame in this case, especially when the economy was crumbling all around them. Oh, and Bush's trillion dollar mistaken war didn't help matters either.

Saunterelle to answer your questions,
First the way I see it .. Mexico / Costa Rica, one is a nice(r) clean(er) Mexico....both are decent enough. I have been to both more than 10 times each CR many more times.
Other countries I have been to: Most of these I have been to multiple times.
UK - Some family here lived roughly a year Ireland China - too many times Russia Belgium Czech Republic Italy France Germany Finland Norway Canada - too many times Australia New Zealand Japan - Several times Austria - Several times Netherlands - Several times Denmark Mexico - too many times Costa Rica Jamaica Tahiti Brazil Fiji
I have been to every US State, many of them 7 + times.
I have lived a year or more in the following.
CA HI UT NV
My life has been planes trains and automobiles, sprinkled with surf breaks and snow boarding mountains. And for this I am so grateful.

Because I don't see the Glass that is America as half empty.
Because I HAVE been around the world and KNOW of the GOOD America does.
Because I have been around the world and KNOW NONE of those other countries are ANY better, and in fact most are FAR worse.
Because I am a CAPITALIST.
Because I VALUE the CONSTITUTION the way it was written, not amended by the "enlightened"
Because I know that this "supposed" .."the world hates us" CRAP is crap..I have been there.
And in all actuality I am more a centrist, maybe a tick to the right...but mainly center...believe it or not.

why?
1. i've ASKed you a number of times before. why would i ASK again?
2. as it turns out my assumptions were almost bang on. your travels consist mainly of visitations, backpacking trips, and exchange student jaunts. none of which could've provided you with much insight to the working of those gov'ts.

No, your assumption that I've never left the Bay Area was not bang on. I have worked in many of these countries and have gotten to know the working class people there. I can assure you of one thing. They all despised what America was doing when Bush was President.
