... for fellow libertarians and traditional conservatives.
Our Rino Governor will be leaving us, and there is a high probability we will get a bottom of the barrel elitist socialist as Governor (a real conservative has no chance in this great state).
Indications are that Gavin Gruesome and Dianne Feinswine are thinking of running, and would be easily elected (whichever decides to run).
We are already a nanny state right now, but think how many more times of a socialist nanny state we will be with one of these fine elitists running the helm. Aren't you excited?

The leading contenders on the Democrat side so far are:
* Senator Feinstein, who would be 77 years old at the time she assumed office presuming she wins. She could almost certainly be elected at this point, although one pauses to wonder at how well a matronly grandmother / political lifer (clearly no outsider) is going to play with young, enegetic and change minded Democrat voters.
* Attorney General Brown, who would be 72 years old. His previous terms as governor are largely considered a mixed bag with several prominent failures. His tenure as mayor of Oakland, where he went decidedly centrist and ticked off a lot of hardcore leftists, left many promises unfulfilled. So far as AG he has done little harm.
* Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, despite the fact that he doesn't seem content to use his real name and has some serious scandal baggage. His college era membership in MEChA is more than a little troubling. He has a reputation for travel, press conferences and photo ops. A local newspaper recently did a study and analyzed how the mayor spends his time and found over a ten week period earlier this year his published schedule shows he spent just 11% of his time on actual duties and city work, and that he spent a considerable amount of that 11% huddling with cronies and special interest groups who are lined up to help him attain higher office.
For what it matters at this point, Gavin Newsom could get a lot of votes in San Francisco, We Ho and Guerneville, but politically he is severly damaged goods at this point, and he also has major scandal baggage, up to and including banging at least one (that we know about) city employee on his staff, and his multiple stints in rehab.
Immediate contenders on the Republican side..... hard to say at this point. The only thing I fall back on is that California, even though it seems to prefer a Democrat dominated Legislature, is notorious for not electing Democrats to be governor. There were exactly four across the breadth of the 20th century, two of them named Brown and one a Brown protege named Gray Davis. Feinstein lost out twice; once in a primary bid and once in a general, and thats why she went for the Senate.
The next two years are going to be exceptionally interesting to watch.... and maddening, I think, for watchers on both sides of the aisle.
