I find it odd that the media is touting a 63% job approval rating of Obama and he has not even started to work. 74% of Democrats approve of the job that Obama has not started doing and only 18% of Republicans approve.
That means, 26% of Democrats and 82% of Republicans still have their sanity. The rest should be committed. Or at minimum, removed from office.

As was trenchantly paralleled in the film "The Right Stuff" when the Mercury astronauts were publicly announced.... Barack is being annointed as the greatest president in history and he hasn't done a goddamned thing but show up to a few press conferences .
What the media / Ministry of Propaganda is touting is just that.... tout.

They must be referring to this: I searched, but the report that the article references is only available on the website of the Council on Foreign Relations for a fee. Otherwise, I would have downloaded and excerpted it here. It will certainly give Obama something to sink his teeth into on Day One, besides the total abandonment of fiscal restraint, something that I seem to remember was a campaign issue just a month or so ago. Keep your eye on Hillary on this one. I don't think she has a lot of loyalty to the Obama administration.

If he surprises us and governs to the center, will you all give him his due?
I will...
(not that I expect him to, but if he does then I will tip my cap)

I think he is smart enough to know that his only chance at a re-election is to move to the center. I'm more worried about his second term. Once he has nothing to lose, I see him showing his real colors.

Up or down, win or lose, Barack will be the president of these here United States come January 20. Do I want him to fall on his ass and be a less than successful president? Hell no, is my answer, there is far too much at stake in today's world.
As I've said before and elsewhere, if what he does falls into the realm of at least trying to do the right thing for all Americans (particularly in foreign policy and national defense) then he will have my support and admiration just as any president would and should.
But if he moves quickly on his promises to cut defense spending by 25% across the board.... well, let's say I gotta little problem with that. Especially considering how things are in the world these days.

Nor is it a retort on how he plans to govern. My point is this, he has done nothing to earn any approval rating as of this point in time. The only thing he has done is appointed some people, which has no effect until the actually begin to govern. So, in essence, there is nothing to approve of. Making it all and exercise in futility. Or propaganda.

Someone please define center for me. Are we talking about the center where it has been pushed to with the current president? Or the center between blue dogs and neocons? Or the center between RINOs and Progressives?

Got it now? ;D You're in the center? Is that why you think everyone should be allowed to own automatic weapons and carry them wherever they go? Even to Toys R Us? www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/11/28/national/main4637468.shtml Actually, I'm much more center than most of you who post here. However, JMO, Surefire, and Mink are more center than I am. Obama was elected by the majority of Americans. He and I see eye to eye on most issues. This puts me squarely in the center.
