ah yes, raise a glass to all those gallant men! having lived there i have visited the memorial many times. it was a fitting place for many of my buddies to reenlist. they swore their oaths and raised the flag over the arizona (and got to keep the flag too). i chose to do my last re-up where WWII ended - on the surrender deck of the " mighty mo," parked right behind the arizona. i'm including a few photos for ya. inside the memorial one of the forward gun turrets oil still seeps out after all these years. also, the park service places cremated remains of PH survivors inside the ship so they can be with their shipmates the beginning and the end - from the "Mo" looking over the arizona the flag above the arizona memorial the USS Utah suffered a similar fate parked on the NW side of Ford island. it has a small memorial but is rarely visited. the next photos are of vintage aircraft brought in for the movie "pearl harbor" and some "extras" hired on to play the roles of sailors/marines. most of them were actual sailors/marines/soldiers. they were paid about $200/day to run around. unfortunately, i couldn't take leave for the two weeks they were filiming. otherwise, i could've been a star!!! LOL

Mink, I think you meant to say, "Here, here!" Sometimes, you take things for granite.
