......but only by a 50/47 margin. it always amazes me how dems will hamme republicans for their minor transgressions (real or percieved) but are so forgiving of major transgressions of fellow dems. abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=6410188

Commandeering a National Guard amphibious vehicle in the middle of the Katrina rescue, to clean out the FBI-marked cash in the freezer of his house should have been a dead giveaway. However, the Dems in that district re-elected him in 2006, and it's only now that he has been indicted, that he gets turned away from office. Compare and contrast that with the way that Ted Stevens was treated, both by the Dems and by the national media.
Maybe Saunterelle or Mink can explain that dichotomy.

That Jefferson was turned out in the runoff gives pause to wonder if the stench of generations of corruption in Louisiana hasn't lifted just a wee bit. Of course, at the bottom of the linked story is another bit of good political news in that the Republicans held the 4th district which was being vacated by a retiring Republican.
Seems like Governor Jindahl has himself some coattails down there, given that he's been in office two years now.
