That has to be a misprint, Crossride. We all know that when an honest citizen with a gun confronts a thug, the honest citizen always has the gun taken away and is killed with it. Just ask any good progressive about it. After all, gunz-r-bad.

That link takes me to a story about a house fire in Gridley.... which is one of Butte County's "finer" neighborhoods.
What was the story?

I guess they change their links. Here's the text:
Teen watches her stolen car crash: Chico man arrested following police chase on Highway 32 By GREG WELTER - Staff Writer Posted: 12/11/2008 12:00:00 AM PST
HAMILTON CITY -- A Chico man is under arrest following a high-speed pursuit on Highway 32 that resulted in him crashing a stolen Honda into two other vehicles near Meridian Road at about 2 p.m. No one was hurt.
The owner of the stolen car, Cynthia Buchholz, 17, of Chico, said she learned her vehicle had been spotted near the Tower Mart on East Avenue at about 1 p.m.
It was taken Monday from East Lassen Avenue.
She and some friends went to look for it, and as they drove out Highway 32, it zipped past eastbound at about 100 mph, with Glenn County sheriff's deputies in pursuit.
"I knew it was my car," she recalled. "It has a distinctive Eagle sticker on the rear bumper."
Shortly before the crash, the victim's father, Marlon Buchholz, was in Hamilton City and spotted her car, a 1992 Honda Prelude, being gassed up at a mini-mart.
According to his daughter, Buchholz approached the Honda and demanded that the passenger "get out of my car."
The man did, and Marlon Buchholz held him for police. He was later determined not to be involved and released.
According to authorities, the driver, identified as Kyle Daniel Peterson, 20, a parolee at large from Chico, sped from the mini-mart, narrowly missing a patrol car driven by deputy Steven Bailey, a community resources officer who was first on the scene.
The car crashed near Meridian Road, sideswiping one vehicle, and hitting another. Cynthia Buchholz witnessed the crash.
"My car was totaled,"
she said, adding it looked like Peterson had tried to remove the stereo. "I loved that car; I just broke down when I saw it. "I'm just glad the person who stole it is in jail, and that nobody was hurt," Cynthia Buchholz said.
Peterson fled the scene of the accident, running through an orchard.
An armed citizen who possessed a concealed weapons permit caught up with him and held him at gunpoint for authorities.
Glenn Sheriff Larry Jones, who said his department is cooperating with Butte County authorities in the incident, said the Buchholz's Honda had a special high-performance engine that probably would have allowed it to outrun patrol cars. "Mr. Buchholz said it probably would have taken the thief a few days to realize what the car had under the hood," Jones said.
Peterson is being held at the Butte County Jail in Oroville without bail. He was being sought for failure to appear in court on a burglary charge.

Ahhhh typical Butte-ant activity. A parolee at large and a stolen car. That whole county is one huge cesspool of meth and nutjobs. A target rich environment from what I've seen riding with friends who work there.
