Was MacArthur involved in Watergate? By the way, the topic of this thread is not Watergate either.

You see Mink, Nixon, regardless of what you believe, was motivated by another Presidents actions who proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that he was willing to use the Governments agencies to sully reputations and investigate people who were is political enemies from the other side of the isle and sometimes the same side of the isle. He used the postmaster general, the FBI and the IRS to do worse then Nixon ever thought possible.
According to a gallup poll, conducted while this individual was still in office, 46% of the people were willing to say he was the first American Dictator. Nixon never even got close to that. And you can not refute that with curt little sentences and rolling eye emoticons. Even your name calling will not change the fact that Nixon, in spite of what you have been taught in school, was not the most corrupt person to ever sit in the White House.
Quite simply, the most corrupt person to ever grace the halls of our Presidency was a man admired by more Americans then most. Because they do not know the truth of what he did. The people during his time knew, which explains the gallup poll. That man was one Franklin Delano Roosevelt, first American dictator and responsible for the most damage ever done to this great nation by a sitting President.
So, Slink, perhaps you should look more at the history of politics in this nation from the perspective of an economist. Perhaps you will begin to see things more clearly and less biased and party oriented. Excessive government was foisted on this nation by the Democrat party and no one else. It has been here since it began in 1932.

And just to prove to you that his economic policies were a failure, here is a excerpt from the diary of Treasury Secretary, Henry Morgenthau, May 1939: "We have tried spending money. We are spending more than we have ever spent before and it does not work. And I have just one interest, and now if I am wrong somebody else can have my job. I want to see this country prosper. I want to see people get a job. I want to see people get enough to eat. We have never made good on our promises. I say after eight years of this administration, we have just as much unemployment as when we started. And enormous debt to boot."
This admission was from the longest standing and best friend that FDR ever had.
To bad they had already damaged the country, the Constitution and the rights of the States before he came to this conclusion. FDR's corruption is undeniable as is his policy failures.

TNG, since you want to change the topic, I guess I am through on this thread. I said what I needed to say already anyway Yes, and as per usual, ignored the right on comparisons of Watergate and FDR. If you want to talk corruption, it was a Democrat who was the worst. In fact, he was so corrupt that he did not believe he was corrupt, but then again, I am sure Nixon did not believe so either. However, Nixon got caught and did very little damage to this nation because he lacked an orators golden tongue, FDR did not.
