Once again, dear readers, it's Bloody Christmas in Tinsel Town.
There's things going down all over LA both happy and sad. And today's entry on both the happy side and the sad side of the ledger involves a one time child actor who rated a handful of screen credits in his heyday. But like most who dream of stardom, Hollywood wasn't kind as he aged so left the world of fantasy and make believe and made his living selling another form of fantasy by being a drug dealer in his adult life. Now he's on the night train to the big adios thanks to effective action by some of Tinsel Town's finest.
No word on whether or not any of the cops involved happened to be named Bud White, but given what this "child star" did to get himself not only on America's Most Wanted, but to make John Walsh's "Dirty Dozen" then I'd say he got some measure of justice. Which is more than his victims got. It's proof yet again that it's not always best to leave a man alone when his blood is up.
But life goes on the City of the Angels, dear readers, and tomorrow Christmas will be celebrated all over town in the way that we all know with very few left to ponder how this fool chose to make his exit. Either way, I doubt he had any wings when he went and I'm guessing he won't need them where he's going.
Remember you heard it here first, on the QT, and very, very hush-hush.

LOS ANGELES – A former child actor killed by police after a two-hour standoff as he held his 7-year-old son hostage in a restaurant was a suspect wanted for the 2004 murder of his girlfriend, authorities said Wednesday.
The boy was wounded.
The man killed was 38-year-old Manuel Benitez, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said in a statement. Police were searching for his mother, who may have been traveling with him.

El Monte police Detective Ralph Batres said the standoff began after an officer noticed a man take a boy off the sidewalk and head to a Chinese restaurant in a strip mall. Benitez ignored the officer's orders to stop and barricaded himself inside, Batres said.
Police said Benitez, who wore a camouflage jacket and had two handguns, held the boy hostage in a back room of the restaurant.
Gallagher said Benitez told police during negotiations that he was going to shoot police and harm the child.[/quote]
